I am a 73 year old widow. I woke up at 1 AM cold. My thermostat read 15C while -17C outside. Called my regular furnace repair man. I changed the thermostat batteries. I turned the furnace breaker off and on. Neither brought the furnace on. He came out and suggested I should consider a new furnace but would fix the furnace in a day or two and put a small electric heater on in the mechanical room to keep the pipes from freezing. I thought I better get a second opinion. I read a good review on Reddit about ***** at Bowness Plumbing. I called him at ***. He gave me the price of $350 for the service call diagnosis. He was working on my furnace in 45 minutes. My furnace was fixed within an hour. He said my relatively new furnace was not a dud. It had a common problem to replace a faulty part and tidy up a bit inside the furnace. ***** is an old school, honest hand shake type that is very rare in this day. I cannot say enough how he has restored my faith in an honest hours work at a fair price. Highly recommended!**** ******** Oakridge, *******

Thanks for the review ****. I certainly do try my best to be honest and fair with everyone. Including detailed diagnosis. The skilled trades in general have an issue these days with teaching their apprentices how to precisely discern problems and it took me quite a few years after getting my ticket to think like this too. I'm glad the furnace issue was a smaller one, some of these new stamped out burner venturi tubes have a funny pattern of channeling gas towards the sides of the burner box and tripping the flame rollout switch. Flame rollout is usually associated with a faulty heat exchanger and back draft during the main blower sequence. in this case, it was just heat conduction from the front of the burner making it's was to the back of the burner. A few metal bends to close off the ends of the burners pointing at the walls and away ya *****'s like how I teach my apprentices. I'd rather charge more per hour and carry light parts that make the bill cheaper than pretend I'm cheap with a lower introductory rate and go around replacing 100s of lbs of steel at everyone's house, making less money and costing them *******'s a silly dilemma we have these days.

I would not hire this firm again. Major mess up on a simple task. We hired Mitch to tighten 3 loose Delta faucets in our 6 year old home. He refunded the $427 we paid when we discovered, after he left, water ponding at the base of our master bedroom roman bath tub, the faucet we paid him to tighten (which had never leaked) was now leaking, slight water damage to our living room ceiling and the diverter to the hand shower stopped functioning. Mitch told us he took the Delta faucet apart which was completely unnecessary to tighten it as he was aware. He suggested we start to replace Delta faucets in our home with Moen and offered to sell us a Moen tap he had in his truck. He also diagnosed our hand sprayer hose as close to failing (not that we asked for his opinion as the hand sprayer was working perfectly prior to his arrival) and said he would need to return to pull the bathtub out to facilitate replacement. We contacted Delta Faucets the next morning who advised us to get rid of him as all plumbers know and he should have told us 1) their hand sprayer hoses can easily changed without pulling out the bathtub 2) all Delta fixtures are warrantied for life and they’d send new ones and/or parts for free 3) he never should have recommended replacing Moen taps with Delta roughins as they aren’t compatible. We hired a Red Seal certified plumber who said Mitch didn’t correctly reinstall the Delta faucet after he took it apart which is why the faucet’s diverter stopped functioning and the faucet started leaking. $1,500 later and one month without our bathtub. At first he offered to pay for damages but then retracted his offer so we were left footing the bill. Horrible experience.

Thanks for the review ****. This was quite the experience and quite an emotional roller coaster considering your extremely rude comments throughout the ordeal while I attempted to fix things. You declined to let me come back and fix the leak on the diverter that clearly had a minor issue with the pinched O-Ring that was able to repaired from the top side as stated in the report you gave me towards the end of our interactions. It was a simple mistake you refused to let me repair and I was on my way there when you told me you were cancelling the visit because delta said the faucet didn't need to be removed to be tightened. From my understanding this must be a misunderstanding on their part or a miscommunication on yours because delta roman tub fillers have a mounting ring that tightens with 2 flat head screw drivers only accessible from the top after removing the tub spout. Initially I figured you were just extremely disgruntled, so I gave you a full refund of the entire job that we did there that day in an attempt to make you feel like at least you hadn't spent money to solve a few problems and create another in the process. The hose on the diverter was falling apart when I pulled it out to drain the system when I was working on it. I figured I'd bring it to your attention as it's a clear sign of the condition of some of the concealed components of the valve and I even photographed the leak on the hose to show you that it should be changed but a pullout hose on a roman tub faucet can't be replaced without getting access to the connections on the faucet from below. I'm not too sure if that point from delta is another miscommunication or misunderstanding but they can't be replaced without undoing the connection at the faucet; which is concealed inside the tub skirting. I'll admit after all of these interactions I became wary of you as a person. Initially I offered to pay for any damages because I figured that would be as much as I could do given the circumstances we were in. From my understanding you had a leak on a faucet that would only create a puddle when it was operated. Days later you sent me pictures of the ceiling and the tile explaining that the ceiling wasn't damaged but the tile was saturated with water and that you wanted my insurance numbers to make a claim. At this point I felt like you were attempting to **** me or use my insurance to get the tile redone in your bathroom at my expense because it got wet.... I was upset, but I figured this was clearly a con move considering the damages were practically non existent and all our previous interactions with you where you used very aggressive language was merely an intimidation tactic to make me cave in and buy you a new bathroom. So I retracted my offer to pay for damages and refused to give you my insurance details. Tile doesn't become damaged when it gets wet, if your in floor heat stops working it's not because of a small puddle of water that was on the floor one time and your drywall wasn't damaged. All this considered and with the other plumbing companies report that the faucet just needed an adjustment and I felt confident in saying that I was off the hook and you are clearly some sort of con artist. I find it humorous that you say it cost 1500 to fix the issue. That's about how much I told you it would cost to replace the system because of how difficult it is to get access to the connections inside the free standing tub. I'm sure the invoice you got for that amount likely has a very similar procedure on it for the solution. Most likely because the pullout hose on the valve can not be replaced without getting access to the connections concealed inside the freestanding tub skirting. It's a shame I wasn't there to properly diagnose the issues concealed inside of the tub because you wouldn't let me. I would've gladly given you a break on the bill or even a full refund and repair if I had been able to diagnose and determine an issue that I had caused. For some reason you wouldn't let me come back for free to test it and see what was going on. If you have any pictures and a good explanation as to prove that the valve was in fact damaged beyond repair when I adjusted it then I'd gladly pay for the valve replacement job. I'll admit I'm extremely skeptical of considering you as an honest person at this point but I'm willing to work with you if I'm legitimately in the wrong here. We're in an odd spot now due to how rude you've been and how you've refused to let me understand the full problem that occurred but fair is fair and if I broke your valve I would pay for it to be replaced if that is the right thing. But please do understand I'm under no obligation to do so and I need you to communicate with me respectfully from here on.
