    After a visit to our home Scotia Development send us an offer to renovate three bathrooms in our house. After a few reiterations we accepted the offer and paid a ****** CAD deposit on November 24th, 2023, with the agreement that we would select materials and work would start as soon as possible. After a lot of back and forth, another visit was needed to clarify the materials to be used. We got a revised offer on March 12th 2024, which we accepted. It was promised work could start soon afterwards. Since we have been in regular contact with the contractor about work start date. Nothing happened until on June 25th we got a message that they would no longer be able to proceed with the project, due to family circumstances indicating that they would start the process to refund the deposit. I expressed my sympathy and sent them our bank details. After 2 polite reminders from us they responded on August 1st telling us they have submitted everything to the accountant and the funds should be in our accounts soon. On August 25th, I sent them another reminder. They replied on August 27th that there was an issue with the bank, they needed 3 signatures and asked us to give them until September 8th to settle the deposit. I accepted that and send them a reminder on September 11th and September 13th telling them I would take formal steps if they would not respond. I received no response on to notes. I have saved all the communication and documents. The contractor did not perform any work and clearly admitted that we should get all our money back.
