Better Business Bureau® Serving Greater Cleveland (BBB®) presented its Students of Integrity Awards to four Greater Cleveland high school students who personify integrity through their leadership, community service, academics, and strong character ethics. Public and private high schools within BBB’s five-county service area participated by selecting their own Student of Integrity who submitted an essay to BBB.
"The Students of Integrity Awards program is one of several BBB initiatives that emphasize the importance of continually enhancing and focusing on character-building in all aspects of one's life whether you are a high school student or a business leader," said Sue McConnell, President of BBB.
Students were recognized at BBB’s Celebration of Integrity on April 18, 2024, at Stillwater Place in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
BBB® Serving Greater Cleveland recognized Riya Verma as the Top Scholarship Winner.
Verma is a senior at Solon High School; she was named our top scholarship winner and awarded a $3500 scholarship.
The following three high school seniors were awarded a $1500 scholarship:

Amelia Russell, Mayfield High School

Gabriel Regis, Lake Ridge Academy

Seaenna Morton, Ohio Connections Academy

Amelia Russell

Along with running Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track, Amelia is involved in the French Club and is the Captain of the Science Olympiad Team at Mayfield High School. Her leadership within the Science Olympiad Team inspired her to develop the Science Olympiad Council, which helps increase student participation across all grades. When asked about her future, Amelia stated, “There’s a lot of things I want to do to leave the world a better place.” Amelia’s kind disposition toward everyone she encounters has influenced those around her, leading her school’s Guidance Counselor to say, “The most inspiring thing about Amelia is how she always wants to serve others.”

Gabriel Regis

Gabriel is involved in several school activities including mentoring at the Lower School, the Black Student Union, and the Lake Ridge Academy Book Club. In addition to all of the above, Gabriel is the Founder of his school’s literary magazine titled Long Story Short. The magazine, as he tells it, “is a place that gives a voice to the students of our school and allows them to creatively write or do an art piece and put it out about a theme.” Gabriel’s golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated has engraved a beloved presence at his school. Gabriel’s Guidance Counselor characterizes him as “such a positive role model” both at school and at home.

 Seaenna Morton

An avid caretaker of animals, Seaenna is a longtime foster parent to cats and dogs. The role of fostering bloomed within Seaenna during her freshman year of high school, which coincided with the pandemic. Looking to provide a loving shelter until they were placed in their forever home, Seaenna has fostered over 150 animals since 2020. Her school’s Guidance Counselor, Deanne Anderson states, “[Seaenna] won the Volunteer of the Year Award” at one of the local animal shelters. She also stated that “the most impressive thing about Seaenna is her dedication to service in her community.” She further acknowledged the commitment and wholeheartedness Seaenna puts into fostering animals, as she went on to say that Seaenna “has accumulated over 1,000 hours” volunteering at local animal rescues and still excels in school at both Ohio Connections Academy as well as Kent State University where she is taking some online college courses.

BBB also recognized 6 area students as Honorees:

Bridget Butler, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School

Leah Coats, Cleveland School of Science and Medicine

John Geffert, St. Ignatius High School

Ava Martin, Rhodes High School

Lucy Salata, Beaumont High School

Garrett Rupert, Perry High School
