Better Business Bureau® of the Upstate & AARP® South Carolina are partnering together to host a FREE Secure Your ID Shred Day, a national event created to promote awareness about identity theft and fraud protection, at the Greenville Convention Center. Additionally, thanks to our IT Partner, PremierePC, folks will also have the opportunity to shred their digitally-stored material in a way that meets US Department of Defense standards. We can only accept Desktop or Laptop devices - no monitors, keyboards, printers, etc.

Better Business Bureau® Education Foundation and AARP will be providing educational handouts to prevent consumers and businesses from becoming victims of identity theft. Individuals and businesses can take advantage of FREE on-site document shredding, electronic recycling, and take-home practical tips to prevent identity theft online and off.

Consumers are allowed to bring 3 banker "10" x 12" x 15" size small boxes or 3 kitchen 13-gallon size plastic bags per consumer, business, or vehicle. Cardboard boxes will be emptied and returned to consumers.  The maximum number per consumer or business is 3.

Those looking to bring hard drives are limited to 2 devices per vehicle.

Due to safety concerns and to ensure that we are able to serve as many vehicles as possible., we are unable to accept people on foot or allow people to be get out of their vehicles to watch their paper shred.

The complimentary shred event is first come, first serve or until the shred trucks fill up, so coming early is advised. For more information about Shred Day, contact the Better Business Bureau of the Upstate at (864) 242-5052.  Donations are accepted and will benefit the BBB Education Foundation.

Other shred events are scheduled for Simpsonville (4/19) and Anderson (5/03).
