I was a member of the Pottstown location that they had closed down. I was paying on my membership even though I did not like the gym anymore, my last time I stepped foot in Pottstown anytime was 2/2023. I still faithfully payed for it because they give such a hard time to cancel. I went on a hold from 11/2023 to 1/2024 I originally called way ahead to set up this hold because I just was recovering from surgery and just getting back to work. they forgot to put the hold thru, it charged my bank the full bi weekly rate, nobody ever answered the phone. I finally got ahold of a staff member and she told me she had no idea how to access voice messages that I had left days before hand and couldn't help me. I went to my bank and they had issued my money back. also without my knowledge my bank flagged this merchant and I did not know my fees were not coming out until several weeks later. I still was calling the Pottstown location to fix this and update the payment, I also did call other locations of anytime fitness and they were not able to assist me. I was not able to come in within there "office hours" I already work 6 days a week and 30 minutes away outside of these hours. I didn't hear anything from anyone regarding the payments or nothing. next thing I know I had a co worker who also attended this gym tell me they were already gone with another gyms sign on the door. there was no notice sent out of anything to me and after reading the reviews it looked like I wasn't the only one who didn't get a notice. they just switched everyone to another location 25 minutes away and you only had so long to cancel. they did not make canceling easy and were going to charge me all kinds of fees even though Pottstown closed back in December. after getting fees removed via the 1800 number I still had to pay almost $50 to cancel which I feel is a joke after you already closed the gym a month ago and expect people to drive almost 30 minutes out of the way for a gym. I would not recommend
