Company will not refund an over payment made in June 2025. I've called twice and emailed twice. Each time I'm told " we put in a request for a refund. You may have it in a week or so or maybe next month"

We received an information packet regarding the educational camps provided over the summer and that my son had been nominated by an educator at his school. We called and spoke with an admissions advisor and enrolled him for a week. When enrolling we paid for the full refund program in case of any cancellation.Unfortunately my son sustained an injury breaking his left leg requiring surgery. I called and cancelled his enrollment/attendance for camp. Received an email confirming the cancellation and stating we would get the refund. I called after 4 weeks regarding not receiving the refund. They said it would take a couple more weeks as it was their busy season. I called a second time a few weeks later again inquiring on the status of my refund. This phone call I was told it would take up to 12 weeks from time of cancellation to get my ********* has not been 12 weeks. I have not received a refund and when I try to call the numbers, the phone lines do not work.

I am filing a complaint against Envision by WorldStrides regarding their refusal to acknowledge or process a refund request for my childs enrollment in the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM.On May 5, 2025, I submitted a formal written request for a refund due to my childs recent diagnosis of severe anxiety. Upon the advice of healthcare providers, we made the medically necessary decision to withdraw our child from all summer camp programs, including this one. This is a health-based, non-elective withdrawal, not a matter of preference or convenience.Despite my outreach, Envision has failed to respond in any capacity. I have followed up multiple times, including a strongly worded email sent more than five weeks later, which clearly states the urgency and outlines the ethical concerns of ignoring such a request. As of the filing of this complaint, I have still received no acknowledgment, communication, or resolution. While I understand Envisions standard refund policy, this is not a routine cancellation. It is a documented medical issue that fundamentally prevents participation. Their silence and lack of customer support in the face of a legitimate, compassionate exception is deeply troubling and inconsistent with the organization's mission of developing youth leadership.I am seeking a full refund of the amount paid for my childs program enrollment, as these funds are urgently needed to provide appropriate mental health support and care for our child.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/26/2025

Thank you for reaching out. Our records show that you were approved for an exception to our cancellation policy in the amount of $1859.55, which is the full tuition amount paid minus the $499 deposit and applicable credit card surcharge fees.

We also show that, on May 12, $1392.05 was successfully refunded to the **** on file that is the original form of payment. The remaining $467.50 was unsuccessful-$367.50 from the **** and $100 from another donor whose name was not provided at the time of payment.

A check for the $367.50 was mailed to the address we have on file for you, on 6/16/25. We reached out on 5/15 and 5/20 confirming that your refund had been processed and requesting the payee name and address for the portion we were unable to process by credit card. We received a return call and email on 6/13, asking that we request the payee name and address in writing instead, which we did. We received a return email with the payee information on 6/17 and a check was immediately requested.

Please let us know if the checks are not received in the next 7-10 business days, and if you are having trouble locating the credit card refunds that were successfully processed on May 12. Thank you and have a safe summer.

I purchased a world shade national security experience for my daughter. I made sure to purchase the full refund package in the event that something came up because Ipurchased the package back in December and the trip was not until January. A lot of things can happen in the intriem. I was told that I had until May 21 to cancel the trip and I would receive a full refund. I called on May 20 to cancel and was told that it was approved but they could not give me a date for the refund I asked to speak to a manager that could provide me with more information and was told somebody would get back to me within 10 days and I have yet to hear from anyone . We are 110days later and I still have not received my refund. I have called several times and have been unable to even obtain a date on when I should expect my refund and have not been able to get ahold of a manager Im essentially given the run around and told Ill get it in the coming weeks they cant tell me when because they are busy.

This company has been s******* me over for almost 2 years now. 1st time we cancelled the program because I could not afford an additional 2 grand for a hotel room. The $5,285 included the program for my son, myself and my mother. NOW they no longer have the family package. I just want my money back. They also do not tell you anything at the time of sign up about the refund policy. Please I am begging you for a refund. I will also be cancelling the current program because I will not send my child to ** without me being there.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/13/2025

Thank you for reaching out. In reviewing your account, we show that you cancelled your sons enrollment in our 2024 program on June 6, 2024, two weeks before it was scheduled to begin, because you hadnt realized that hotel accommodations were not included. Our website and materials do indicate what is included, and do not indicate anywhere that hotel accommodations are provided for the family program.

Our refund policy is also clearly stated on the website/requires agreement to the terms before enrollment can proceed, and is reiterated in our enrollment confirmation emails for reference.

It states that Tuition is nonrefundable for cancellations received after April 3, 2024. As a courtesy to give you more time to raise funds, we approved a transfer of the 2024 funds paid to 2025. They remain nonrefundable if he chooses not to attend this year, as they would have been if you elected to cancel altogether instead of transferring.

Thank you and have a safe summer.

I wanted to add this to our rebuttal, which appears in bold directly from our website:

The cost of the Family Program includes site visits and transportation during provided guided events, select meals, lectures, curriculum, and materials. Housing and transportation to and from the airport is not included.***

It was clearly disclosed that housing is not included in the family program, which is why we feel this is not a valid reason for requesting a refund after the April 3 cutoff. Thank you.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: 23059652

I am rejecting this response because:
Nothing is easily found or clearly stated on the website. I was not able to find the refund policy and unfortunately I no longer have the confirmation emails from 2023. You stated that housing and transportation to and from the airport are not included in the price. However, when I originally signed up for this it did offer transportation to and from the airport for my son and family. I remember this because we had to book a flight that fit the pick up/drop off times. I remember signing up for this benefit. I was not able to find anything on the website about the family program -maybe because it is no longer available.

In the picture I have attached you can CLEARLY see the airport meeting location and the arrival/departure day window for transportation.

Before responding to this complaint ignorantly I will remind you that this took place in 2023 and the website has probably been changed since then.

I'm sorry there was a deadline to cancel that I didn't meet, I was taking care of my sick grandfather that was on hospice that passed away in June last year.

      Regards,

      ***** ****

      Business Response

      Date: 05/01/2025

Thank you for reaching out. The transportation you are referring to is an airport shuttle to and from the hotel, it is not airfare or hotel accommodations and this is clearly stated on the website. Our terms regarding this have not changed since 2023, if you have records that show you were offered something that is different you are welcome to provide them. If not, the funds paid remain nonrefundable per the terms agreed to at the time of enrollment. Thank you and have a safe summer.

My daughter applied for your trip to perform at *************. My credit card was charged without my consent & the information was sent to my 17 year old & not my email address. When the credit card was charge, i was not even aware my daughter was accepted for the trip. When I received the full amount for the trip plus the astronomical amount for the parent to attend, I called to cancel. I called on Saturday, 12/7 but your business was closed. When I called Monday 12/9, which was the next business day, i was told the last day to cancel was 12/7. I believe since your business was closed & I called on the following business day then I should receive a refund for the amount paid. I am OK with you keeping the registration fee. The services provided for my daughter to apply to your trip, do not constitute charging $1053. Nothing was processed at this time because we had not filled out any of your forms so there should be no reason for you to justify keeping $1053 of my hard earned money.I have also been waiting for a call from your Admissions Director, ****** ******* & have not heard from her. Currently I have been waiting 24 hours.Thank you for your help.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/12/2024

Thank you for reaching out; our records are showing that you were approved for a refund of $1033 on 12/9. This is what you paid minus the $229 deposit paid on 9/15, and what was eligible for refund if cancellation had been received on 12/6 instead of 12/9. The refund was processed on 12/11, please let us know if it is not received in the next 5-7 business days. thank you and have a safe school year.

UNACCEPTABLE.Reason: Worldstrides Educational and travel experiences processed a payment on my bank account without my prior authorization.I am requesting a refund of $499.0 and to cancel the enrollment of to your summer program (NYLF) ************ daughter. is a minor and before anything you (Worldstrides Educational and travel experiencess) should have parents' authorization to enroll students. a minor students enrollment account SHOULD be under parents name and contact information. At NOT one single moment I have been contacted to authorize such an enrollment. Even though I called on Nov/11/2024 to request to speak to an admissions advisor to request summer program information and details; being told I will get a call back, that never happened. and worst yet NEVER received an email of notification, neither to my daughter's email, of the use of my bank as payment and enrollment subscription. And for some reason, after . submitted the enrollment payment, NOW,as today, neither we (parents) nor . have access to her online account. very questionable!!DEPLORABLE.Must resolve this immediately.

7/6/2024 date of event- The program was at *********** from 7/6/24 to 7/13/24 We received a letter in the mail Fall of 2023 stating a teacher at our child's school had recommended them for a program through the Envision World Strides program. They were compelling and sent over 10 mailers to our home. We paid for the program since it was being hosted at *********** and we wanted our child to have an experience that could help them make new connections and learn about engineering. We made payments from 12/23 to 5/24. The total of payments was *******. On the day of my child's flight to *********, 7/6/24 IAH airport grounded its planes due to weather, then after waiting in the airport for 11 hours, my child's flight was canceled. The weather interruption would be later called Hurricane *****. Subsequently, they also canceled my child's return flight. When we called *********** World Strides *** to say the flight was delayed we were told by staff that since my child missed their pick-up window, they would have to **** and find their way to campus. My student was barely 15 and had never traveled alone, we paid World strides for pick up and drop off at the airport. When we signed up for the program we also paid for insurance in case of travel interruption, we believed that a Hurricane devastating our city and leaving us without power for two weeks would be a travel interruption. But no the company will not refund our money and have offered to transfer the funds for another program. After their dismissive and callus treatment, we would not trust Envision staff with our minor child. The insurance premium would have covered if we could foretold of Hurricane ***** 72 hours in advance but that's not how weather works when you live near the **************. This company is deceptive in its advertising and does not care about students, only profits. We want a refund, the hurricane in July was bad enough. If they can transfer the funds they can refund our money.

We apologize for the delay as we only recently learned that we've stopped receiving email notifications of complaints. We have asked previously for this to be restored, is it possible to do so?

In regard to the complaint, our records are showing that the family called to cancel on 7/9 because their flight was cancelled on 7/6, and was offered the option to transfer to a future program. Since they purchased travel insurance, we also reminded them to contact the insurance company to file a claim as it would be their responsibility instead of ours to consider granting  a refund request.

We paid for $3,345.00 for my son to attend a STEM overnight camp this past summer at ****************** through the Worldstrides program by Envision that was presented to us as a prestigious, academic camp that one could only attend if nominated by a teacher who thought you presented as an exemplary student that showed potential to be a leader in the areas of STEM. This program did not live up to it's advertisement and provided my son with an unpleasant, unfulfilling, extremely disappointing experience for a bright student who had such high hopes for the program due to the information that was provided to us in the invitation packet and online videos of the program. The money we spent on this program was outrageous for the product that we received, which was nothing more than a typical summer program. My son learned far more from a local program that he attended in 4th grade at a fraction of the cost. He is now a Freshman in High School and this program was not only a let down for an aspiring student, but also an insult to the educator who nominated my son who was led to believe that this program was worthy of the price and that my son would come out of this program with a desire to learn more about STEM and all that it has to offer. After this experience, I would think that ****************** should reconsider holding such an event on their property due to the program's inability to deliver what was presented in the invitation packet and online. My student is extremely intelligent and was so let down by the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF). This was supposed to be the highlight of his summer and instead it turned a student's dreams into utter disappointment. I have enclosed the letters that we have sent to the director of the program. We have had no response from him after sending 2 letters now. No acknowledgment of our disappointment and let down of the program is extremely unprofessional and is why we are now moving forward with reporting.

My daughter received an invitation through her school stating that she has been invited to attend this forum in honor of her Academic Achievement at her High School and her interest in the field of Medicine. First of all I am not being prejudice but I really thought this forum is invitational forum which is attended by High Achievement Scholars but later found out it was not. Secondly, my daughter felt the forum wasn't worth the cost to attend except for she got to make friends and work on a project alongside of her friends. Last but the most important part was having some financial challenges, I personally asked the admissions representative if I there is a payment plan option. I was given a 4 months payment plan option with a $500 deposit. I still felt the squeeze in the payment plan length and inquired about what if I miss a month payment before I can again make the payment. I was told to call the office before that happens so that they can help and work around. And obviously I am struggling to make payment and reached out to the administration/ admission and I was warned that they will put this into collection. Also there is a huge different of $74.00 to from the monthly payment amount option I was given and the amount I am actually being charged. I reached out in several occasions to get clarification on this and emailed quite a few times but I have not received any call backs or return emails with any clarification as of today. I am very disappointed and hope no one will have to get through this and I would like to seek BBB's help and assistance in resolving the payment issue.

We apologize for the delay as we only recently learned that we've stopped receiving email notifications of complaints. We have asked previously for this to be restored, is it possible to do so?

For this complaint I have attached copies of the notes showing we explained the payment plan to the customer on multiple occasions and expect them to pay the balance in full since services were fully rendered in July 2024. Unfortunately they have not done so, which means that their account is in default and may go to collections.  I have also attached details of the payment amount and plan-as shown, total charges are $4294 minus a discount of $2100, making the monthly payments ******. Thank you.

      Good afternoon!

Like I have mentioned before, I find inconsistency in all emails and communications that I receive from the entity. The cost to attend the program varies in each response I have received. We received Invitation with enrollment requirement 4/24/2024. full tuition cost 4195, Payment plan $4284. I received email form ****** ****** showing the ***** amount of $2000.

I have sent several emails and made several phone calls. I have tried my best to keep up with all the emails even though I received for Envision as the email comes from too many different email addresses. Herein, I have attached screenshots of the correspondence emails.

Even when I check the payments I have made and the balance remaining in the account, nothing matches, and it is very misleading and confusing.

If there is further question, I can be reached at ************.

      Thank you!

      Regards,

      Good morning!

Thank you for the email dated 3/30/2025! Despite of the fact that I had sent my response on 3/17, I am surprised my claim has been closed. I would like to know the reason for that. I will greatly appreciate if I can talk to a live person regarding this. I can be reached at ************ or, if I can have a contact information of a person I need to talk, I will be more than happy to call.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

      Thank you!

      sincerely,

Thank you for reaching out. While we apologize for any prior confusion on the monthly payment plan amount, we are also showing that your account is in default because we did not receive payments in any amount from July 2024 until March 2025, when the tuition balance was due in full by Oct 1, 2024.

We've attached a summary of your charges and payments which are as follows:

      Charges: Tuition of $4245 + $49 deposit fee= $4294

      Discount: $2100

      Total Charges: $2194

      Total Payments: $1519

      Remaining Balance: $675

Please remit payment for the remaining overdue balance in full at your earliest convenience. Thank you and have a safe school year.

ETA-to clarify, several payments were made prior to March 2025, but they are already reflected in the summary and balance due. It remains $675.

As advertised on our website, college credits are an additional charge that your enrollment confirmation email shows were not purchased. Our records, and your account balance, also show that they were not purchased after your initial enrollment.
