I select several midrange products (carpet, LVP) for a remodel we were doing. My general contractor was given a vague estimate by the salesman of the cost to remove hardwood floors, lay LVP and install carpet (prices were included but no specific product description) The job was to include raising/leveling a low spot in the floor before laying LVP. I selected a high end 10# pad to go under the high mid-range ***** ****** carpet I selected. On the day the LVP was being installed, I came home to check on the process and found that what was quoted as a two day job was almost complete within 6 hours. Perhaps due to the fact that they did not cut out to accommodate cabinets (cabinets were laid ON TOP of flooring! Also, no attempt had been made to level the low spot in the floor. The flooring had been slid under the stove part way but was not flush with the walls. Within a few weeks huge gaps started appearing at joints of then planks because they were free-floating. I addressed these issues with the company and was told “this is normal, we do this all the time”. They did come out to slide the planks back together which soon separated again because nothing was fixed. I take responsibility for moving forward on the project and not firing them at this point. I could not trust this company to perform quality work so I returned home unexpectedly when the carpet was installed. Thank goodness I did or I may never have known that they were installing cheaper versions of what I had ordered! They were installing a 6# pad when I ordered and paid for a 10# pad. When I returned home later that evening the carpet install was complete but I could immediately tell it was not the carpet I ordered. I asked (repeatedly for weeks) to get an itemized list of product name, style, color, manufacturer warranty etc, as well as the pricing. They refused to provide this information to me. I refused to make the last installment until these issues were addressed and they put a lien on my home.

I would like to address the review from **** *********

Her General Contractor was given a ballpark estimate because at the time no specific products had been selected.

We did attempt to level a low spot in the floor. Because of the severity of the low spot, normal floor prep/patch did not suffice. Therefore, the Contractor had to do additional work beneath the floor in order to level it out. This was the agreed upon series of actions between us and the Contractor. The installation of the cabinets were not part of our scope of work. However, it is my understanding  cabinets were in place when we installed the flooring. The LVP flooring was contracted and billed to the general contractor involved in this project.

The carpet part of the project was contracted directly with H & T at the request of **** ********, so that she would not have to pay a pecentage to her Contractor. We informed the Contractor of this and he told us to proceed. The accusation of not installing the agreed upon carpet and pad is simply not true. We have documentation to support this. We also have proof of several emails sent to **** ******** providing her with an itemized bill, which shows product name, style, color and pricing. We also have email history that shows we sent her manufacturer warranty and maintenance information.

H & T was paid by the Contractor for the LVP flooring we installed. After several attempts to contact **** ******** for payment for the carpet and getting no response, H & T put a lien on the property.

      Over four years later, H & T finally heard from **** ********.
