Good Afternoon,In response to complaint ID#********, customer ******* **********, During the Pa State Inspection process, the technician noted the front brake pads were worn unevenly and separating from the cracks on the pad material, the brake rotors were below Pa State Inspection minimum specs., and as far as a damaged brake line being replaced, the technician did notice during the inspection process the brake hose had dry cracks and exceeds life expectancy. As for a broken strut, the technician said there were no issues with the strut at the time of inspection. We stand behind the Pa State Inspection technicians repairs for this automobile.Initial Complaint

?******* *******,
Mr. ***** called our Sunbury location and made an appointment for a tune-up and state inspection for March 5th. Steve Shannon Tire does a free courtesy inspection on all vehicles that we service. During that courtesy inspection one of the things, we look at are there any warning or indicating lights on the dash. Mr. ***** s vehicle had a check engine light ABS, anti-lock brake system and a traction control light on. These were documented on the back of our courtesy inspection sheet before any work was performed on Mr. ***** s vehicle. The codes that were on this vehicle was prior to Steve Shannon Tire performing the inspection. Mr. ***** brought the vehicle back in due to these lights being on and claimed that these lights were not on the vehicle before servicing his car at our facility as a courtesy and Good will we scanned the vehicle, for codes and cleared them. The codes indicated that there was a computer issue within the primary computer module and the body control module which are something we do not repair. we recommended that if the light returns that he will need to take it to a dealer or somewhere that is able to repair those codes. After speaking with Mr. ***** and reviewing the codes that were presented to him by ************* its clear that there is a computer related issue within the *** or BCM. We are always working and striving for 100% customer satisfaction unfortunately in this situation, we are unable to Repair what is required in the *** and body control module. The antilock brake light and traction control light quite possibly may be on due to a damaged tone ring. If this were the case, we would be willing to work with Mr. ***** at a discounted price on that repair.**** *****

I took my car to Steve Shannon on 10/05/24 at the ********** location. I needed my car state inspection and emissions renewed. I had a light bulb replaced. I was told no further issues with my car and they passed it. On 10/23/24, I took my car into my local mechanic inquiring about brake issues. They informed me that my car should not have passed inspection and that the brakes and rotors were scraping metal on metal. Steve Shannon had not informed me of this issue at all. After paying for an inspection, that should not have passed, I would like a refund from Steve Shannon. I paid $114.90 at Steve Shannon on invoice #*******. I then paid $364.97 at my local mechanic to fix this problem.Business Response

On 7/6/24, i took my jeep to the *********, ** location to get my jeep inspected. They failed it, stating my subframe in the front needed replaced, and that my frame in the back was rusting out and that i needed a new car, but i paid the fee for the inspection itself, minus the sticker. We were baffled, and when i got it home had another mechanic look at it, and the subframe did need replaced, but the place that was rusting wasn't the frame and could be fixed. My mom called down for me, and talked to *****, and he said that i wouldn't be charged the inspection fee again, only for the sticker. On this day, when my mom talked to ********************** was off. Today, 7/27/24, after getting the subframe replaced and the rust spot fixed in the back, took it back down for inspection and an alignment since we replaced the subframe. Saw the receipt and i was charged for the inspection again. Called and talked to *****, and he said he saw that and talked to the store manager *****, and that ***** said i only had 15 days to bring it back, then asked if i wanted to talk to *****, and i said yes. When ***** got on the phone, he had an immediate attitude and told me i only had 10 days to bring it back after the initial inspection. I told him my mom and i were never told that, just that we wouldn't be charged the inspection fee a second time, but he refused to do anything, just stated that he would talk to the district Mgr. My mom called down to talk to *********************, the manager, about it and about the mechanic that said my actual frame was rusting out, and he was rude saying that the district mgr would call and in the middle of her saying something, hung up on her. Every time i talk to ***** about different issues, he always has a bad attitude and is rude. Maybe he would have a better attitude and would be nicer if he wasn't getting high before/during work. All i want is the refund for the 2nd inspection charge i received when i was told i wouldn't be charged that to begin with.Business Response

Good Afternoon,In response to complaint ID#********, according to the PA Safety Inspection manual, "The vehicle owner shall be allowed to make his (or her) own repairs or to select anyone else he (or she) desires to do them for him (or her)" That being said, it is important to realize that when the vehicle leaves the inspection station and is not under the care of the inspection mechanic, it is required to receive a full inspection upon return. But due to the fact that one of our store managers may have told them when they bring the vehicle back to verify repairs have been done, they would not be charged the labor portion of the inspection again, we will refund *************************** the $27.95 that was paid. I will be contacting the customer immediately to not only apologize but to offer the refund.Customer Answer

On June 1, 2024 I took my Jeep Gladiator to Steve Shannon Tire and Auto in Sugarloaf, PA to have tires removed, mounted, and balanced before taking it on a long-distance trip. We notified the manager at drop-off that we would be keeping the removed tires because they were in good shape. I paid their fee of $220.23 over the phone and picked up the vehicle after hours due to my work schedule. When I picked up the vehicle, two removed tires were worthless because the technicians destroyed the beads in the removal process. ALL 4 of the expensive after-market rims were also damaged with scratches and scuffs. The technicians claimed to balance the tires with sandbags and charged accordingly. The tires were NOT BALANCED, forcing us to stop at a place during our travels. The owner/technicians at the other business could not believe the damage to the rims and were shocked that we could travel so far on these "balanced" tires without having a wreck. We paid an additional $224.18 to Wide Open Customs. When brought to the manager and Steve Shannon's attention, he stated, "There are signs all over the building stating they are not responsible." I would like my rims and 2 removed tires replaced as well as a refund for the balancing in the amount of $220.23.Business Response

I reached out to ************************* and proposed a full refund for both the bill from Steve Shannon Tire and the expenses he incurred while traveling to *******. Regrettably, he declined this offer. Upon reviewing the photos of the rims, it seems the damage is not due to tire installation but rather to road wear, and since the tires removed were used, it's impossible to ascertain whether the damage predated our services.
Consequently, we have no additional remedies to propose to ******************** at this juncture.

Car was taken to this shop for a loud clicking noise when you make a sharp left hand turn. It was explained that when I had it at a different shop they stated it was probably the strut. I was told by Steve Shannon tire and Auto that I would need both struts replaced so that it would be balanced, and that I also needed an alignment. After not hearing from them all day, I stopped by before they closed to see what the status was. I was told my car was ready. Upon leaving the shop, within a mile, it was obvious that the problem was not fixed. I called the garage the next morning and spoke with a *****, who told me that he did the work on the car, and that nothing was noted about looking into a clicking noise, just that he was to replace the struts and do an alignment. I explained that after paying that amount I wasnt happy that it seemed nothing was fixed. He told me to bring the car back in for them to look at it. When my husband arrived, the original gentleman that first helped him told him that he would not take the vehicle back to look at it, that if we wanted him to look at the car again it would be $45 to diagnose the issue. We stated that wasnt acceptable since we had already paid a large amount for to work on it We were told that when we brought the car in we told them we thought we needed new struts so that is what they did. They were not paid to look over anything else. ***** then came out and offered to take a look at the car for no extra charge. The car was left there for the day, and when my Husband went back a worker told him to get in the car and go for a test drive. He then proceeded to go into an empty lot, tell my husband to "hold on" and then proceeded to drive and turn and then stop at high rates of speed and said see, there is no noises. Nothing was told to us what was "fixed". After driving the car for a day it was very clear nothing was fixed and no alignment was done as the car now pulls hard to the right, which it never did before.Business Response

Mr. *********************** initially called and asked for a price quote on front struts on his 2014 Chevrolet impala which we provided. He called back and asked for an appointment for them to be installed. As per his request we replace the front struts and aligned his car on 4/22/2024. He returned saying he still had the noise in the front of his car which he never mentioned to us at any time. Our manager asked what noise you are referring to? ****** said he was at another garage and was told that front struts are bad and that is where the noise is coming from,
The store manager offered to look at the car for a noise and that would require a diagnostic charge. ****** was upset because we would be charging him to look at the car to determine were the noise was really coming from. While ****** and the Manager were discussing the labor charges, the Technician that worked on the car was at the sales counter and said he would take a look at the car for the customer.
The Technician did road test the car and found that the noise was coming from the rear of the vehicle not from the front of the vehicle. We took the time to show this to ******. We offered to make an estimate and do the repairs, but ****** declined to accept our offers.
We will be happy to look at the vehicle's alignment to see why the vehicle is now pulling. if the front struts do have an issue, they have a lifetime warranty which we will honor.
Sincerely,
*******************

Friday April 19, 2024 went into this establishment seeking a tire for my dump trailer which had gotten a whole in they ended up getting me a tire and mounted and paid my bill in cash. I drove the trailer home and parked it until the following Friday April 26,2024 in which i got it out to use an after driving a short distance I could hear a hissing sound and depending where tire was on the spin it would be louder. We placed some water on to locate the leak which ended up being a small slit in the sidewall of the tire. This was obviously a defective tire. I drove the trailer to this establishment again and explained my situation to them. They told me they have a tire in stock and would replace at my cost which in the first place was extremely unfair because was obviously a defect but I had no choice I needed a tire meanwhile the manager came over and placed his finger in the slit that had a SLOW leak and NOW had a major leak after he thought it was a good idea to put his finger in the hole. Then they come and tell me im sorry we dont have a replacement tire to fix!!!! So now im screwed I had to drive this trailer which started out with a slow leak when I got there to a trailer woth a flat *************************************************************************** replace my tire and I had to pay them to replace and mount the tire. This is so unacceptable of a business.Business Response
Date: 05/15/2024
We feel Steve Shannon ******** is not obligated to refund the customer for the tire on the dump trailer with a damaged sidewall. The tire sold was not a defective tire nor did it have any hole/sidewall damage when installed. Unfortunately, a tire with a sidewall injury cannot be repaired. As far as the claim, the manager put his finger in the sidewall hole and made the leak a major leak, he was looking to determine the severity of the impact damage. We did however offer the customer a replacement tire at cost, unfortunately we did not have his size in stock at that location.Customer Answer

Dear ****************************************************** I am very sorry to hear of your experience at our Cortland location, I do understand how frustrating vehicle repairs can be. The parts that were replaced were the upstream O2 sensor, and the intake VVT solenoid, which the vehicle presented codes for (*****, *****, *****). Unfortunately after the repairs were made the vehicle developed a new symptom, separate from the original repairs. (codes *****, *****, *****) After investigating the new codes the staff found the high pressure fuel pump to be leaking. We have been in business for over 40 years and do have qualified technicians working at all locations. We do have other locations in upstate NY, as close as Ithaca. If you would prefer to bring the vehicle to our Ithaca location, I can assure you I will personally oversee that your vehicle is repaired in a timely and proper manner.
Thank you,

On 10/26/2022, I purchased 4 new tires ** *** ********* ** P255/50HR20 for my 2017 **** ********. I went with these tires per the salesman ****** ****** advice. These tires cost 764.00. Milage at time of purchase was 69,515. Since I purchased theses tires, I had them rotated and had an alignment. The problem is the 2 back tires are not wearing well at all. They will barely pass inspection next month. The sides are almost down to nothing. They are not even a year old and milage on car is 81,000. Not even 12,000 miles. I am retired so I do not excessively drive the car. I went back to ***** ******* on Towanda, PA where I go for oil changes, inspections and tires. I told them my issue and the new manager **** told me, that the only thing they could do for me is sell me 4 more new tires at 10.00 over his cost. He had 2 of his technicians check out the tires and they agreed they are not wearing well at all. Then they proceeded to tell me that they were cheap tires and that I needed to buy expensive tires. And I informed that these were the tires their salesman recommended. ****'s answer to me was that employee no longer works there and that he should have recommended better tires. I then asked him if he contact the tire manufacturer and see if they would make good on them. He told me that it would be a waste of time because they always deny the claims. He also told me that they would pass my car for inspection but I would need to purchase the 4 tires that he recommends within a couple of weeks. He recommended ******** ********* Weather Ready tires. They sell them for $287.00 a tire but he would sell them to me for $223.99 a tire. That was the best he could do as he wanted me to remain a customer. I have been going there for 5 years. I am really upset because I feel they should reimburse some money to me for the two tires that are bad. They should have lasted longer then 9 months and more than 10,000 miles. I believe tires have a warranty.Business Response
Date: 08/31/2023
We have consulted with the manufacturer regarding the low mileage received on your tires and they have agreed to let us do a one-time adjustment provided the tires fall within the parameters of the manufacturer's eligibility rules. The best course of action at this point would be for you to bring the vehicle back in to our facility and we can evaluate the situation once again. If the tires are indeed in a situation where we can adjust them, we will gladly do so. We realize this may be an inconvenience, but unfortunately, this is the best way to proceed.
If you wish to move forward with this, please contact the store and let us know. This will enable us to make sure we have tires on hand and readily available in the case where would be replacing tires at that time."Initial Complaint

I had my oil changed on my 2017 ***** ***** in the Muncy location on 6-20-23.As I was driving the next day the metal splash shield came unattached from the front of my vehicle. This was aprox 30 hours after the oil change took place. I was not informed at the time of the oil change that there was any wear and tear or defects in the splash shield.I had to take my car to the garage to have the splash shield removed in order to be able to continue to drive my car as it was dragging on the road.I contacted the Muncy store immediately after the incident on 6-21-23.The manager at the store called me back 3 days later. He agreed to reimburse the cost of the repair shop (*****) but refused to replace the damaged splash shield. He offered to have the district manager contact me to discuss this further. It has been 10 days and I have not heard anything from the district manager or recieved a refund for the repair bill. It has now been close to 2 weeks since the incident and no resolution has been made.Business Response
