It is highly concerning and disappointing to encounter such persistent issues. The lack of proper handling of customer information by Check 'n Go has exposed me to repeated harassment from individuals claiming to represent collection agencies. Despite having paid off my loan over a decade ago, I was approached years later and pressured into repaying the same debt due to threats of legal action and damage to my credit. Now, this troubling scenario is occurring once again, despite my prior overpayment.

It is unacceptable for a company to fail in safeguarding its customers' private information, allowing such predatory actions to persist. I strongly urge Check 'n Go to take responsibility for protecting its customers by implementing stricter data security measures and improving their internal processes. No customer should have to endure repeated threats and undue stress over resolved financial obligations. This situation must be addressed appropriately and without further delay. I have included the last 4 of the account number. I've also already made a customer complaint who messaged me twice the same email but hasn't responded back.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 04/09/2025

As stated earlier, the bill in question was settled over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the email accounts that were linked to the original transaction, as both my ***** and **** accounts were deactivated by their respective servers due to inactivity.
Additionally, my bank’s records do not extend beyond five to six years, and as such, I am unable to provide documentation from the time of the payment. I find it concerning that Check ‘n Go continues to pursue this matter after such a prolonged period, especially given that it is highly probable that the payment was made in full over a decade ago.
It seems to me that Check ‘n Go is aware of the challenges customers face in retrieving such records after a decade and may be leveraging this knowledge to pursue long-expired debts. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and resolved promptly.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your response

      To Whom It May Concern:

We would like to thank *** ******* for contacting us regarding the
collection calls she has been receiving from someone claiming to be associated
      with Check ‘n Go.

We completed an investigation into the matter and can confirm that
*** ******* obtained a retail payday loan on 12/1/2012 in the amount of $200.00.  Our records indicate the loan was written-off
on 4/30/2013 and transferred to internal collections where it subsequently defaulted
(due to non-payment) and was sold to ********** Debt Holdings, LLC on 5/29/2013
with a balance of $265.00. At
that point, ownership of the debt and collection responsibility transferred to Huntington
Debt Holdings, and Check ‘n Go ceased all collection efforts.

Within her complaint, *** ******* advised that she paid a
third-party for this debt several years ago; however, we would not be able to
confirm or deny her claim- as we do not have access to the historical financial
records of the entity she paid.

To be clear, Check ‘n Go is not responsible for the calls *** ******* is receiving.  Although we can
advise the calls are more than likely fraudulent; unfortunately, we cannot
control the debt collection/communication practices of companies other than our
own, and do not have the ability to prevent a third-party from contacting *** *******.  If these types of calls continue, we would advise
*** ******* to obtain all available records from the entities she worked with
in the past to help substantiate her claim that this debt has already been
repaid.  We would also recommend filing a
complaint directly against the company making the calls if they continue.  Unfortunately, we would have no additional
information to offer- as we are no longer the owner of the debt in question and
have not contacted *** ******* since the date of sale.

We would like to reiterate that Check ‘n Go adheres to stringent
guidelines under both the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Gramm Leach
Bliley Act (GLBA) regarding the handling of consumer data.  We have, and will continue to implement
safeguards which ensure our customer’s personal data remains private and
protected.  If we can be of any
additional assistance to *** *******, she can contact us directly at ###-###-#### and one
of our agents will assist her as best they can.

On March 22, I attempted to reapply for a loan with Check N Go. I normally do this on a Saturday with no issues occurring. This Saturday I was denied. When I contacted CNG, they instructed me to send verification that I had paid my previous loan then reapply. I followed those instructions and then reapplied but still received a denial notification. I have attached the bank verification that I submitted showing that the previous account was paid. The denial; letter stated that I had an open account and I do not because it was paid.

      To Whom It May Concern:

We’d like to thank *** ******** for contacting Check ‘n Go regarding his concerns. We appreciate the opportunity to review the issue and provide clarification.

A review of *** ********' account shows that his previous loan payment was due on March 20, 2025. As part of our policy, when a customer reapplies for a new loan immediately after a previous one, we require proof that the final payment has cleared. This ensures that the previous loan has been fully satisfied before approving a new application.

We understand *** ******** attempted to reapply on March 22, 2025, however because the payment had not yet cleared in our system, *** ******** was advised to submit proof of payment and then reapply. He provided the requested documentation and successfully reapplied on March 25, 2025, and the loan was approved and funded.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience *** ******** experienced during this process. Our intent is to follow procedures that protect both the customer and the integrity of our lending process.

If *** ******** has any further questions or needs additional assistance, we encourage him to contact our Customer Support team directly at ###-###-####. We’re here to help.

      10/2024 I intended to payoff a loan.
I paid about $500 to payoff the loan and was paid ahead.
The payment cleared and I waited 60 days to reflect on my credit that the loan was paid off.
On 12/2024 My credit reported that the loan was 60 days past due. I disputed the past due record with ********. ******** came back and said the past due amount was valid.
I looked on my account online and there showed a past due amount of $1,183.53 (please see attached) that the business agreed is an error and not valid. The business advised that there were 2 payments scheduled on the same day that I was not aware of and only 1 went through. The business advised that they did not reach out to me by email , mail or by voicemail. Instead they called from an unmarked phone line everyday for over 2 months. I advised to the business there is no way i would of know the account went past due if I didn't look at my credit due to the fact the was a misleading error online and no correspondence of a past due amount.
I have made multiple complaints with the business about this and nothing has been done to resolve this. The store manager advised that she feels nothing can be done. I'm disputing the past due instances are not correct and should be removed from my credit report for the following reasons:
      1. Misleading error online with an oturageous past due amount that the business acknowldeged( please see attached)
      2. No correspondence for any past due amount(email, letter in the mail or vocie mail
      3. The loan was paid ahead and not possible to be past due in 60 days in that short time frame
      4. Loan is paid off in full

We would like to thank *** ***** for contacting us regarding
her previous loan and the associated credit reporting.  We completed an investigation into the matter
and can confirm that *** ***** obtained a retail Installment loan on 4/8/2024

indicate the loan was paid in full on 12/16/2024 when *** ***** made a debit
card payment in the amount of $494.96.
Her account status currently reflects “Closed - Paid in Full” and there
is a zero balance on the account.

A review of the credit reporting associated with *** *******
loan confirms the new loan status & updated balance were sent to the credit
bureaus in January of 2025 and was reflected within her credit report in early
February of this year.  If *** ***** is

2 years ago I received calls about a check n go payday loan that was defaulted in 2015 I have never had a payday loan, again today 02/12/25 I received a voicemail threatening to sue me for an unpaid loan from debt collector which I have never taken a loan from them,I have contacted check n go and one of there employee stated they couldn't find my name in there system as a customer nor ever having a loan with them but yet the debt collector stating I owe a loan from 2015 they couldn't say an amount nor the month, I am getting tired of dealing with this and am about to hire a civil lawyer to sue the collector and check n go for harrasment and threats which to my knowledge it's state and federal laws prohibit collectors from threatening people as well as the states statue of limitations is 4 years yet they waited 8 and 10 years to try and collect money I do not owe nor ever recieved,I might have inquired about a loan but never excepted it or signed for it,I have asked the collector to provide proof in mail which they tell me they will send but never do.nor can they tell me an amount or date it was taken out.check n go has the authority to give the collector back there money and stop them from harassing me about a loan I have never taken,I have done research and they have done this across the country to hundreds of people.check n go can say they sold a debt and they are not responsible but yet they are the ones putting out false loans to people and stating they owe money for loans they have paid off or never had.and if I had a loan with them why wouldn't they contact me a day after or a month after it was supposedly defaulted not 8 years and then again 10 years later.

I have had a payday loan with Check and Go. I get disability monthly and my repayment date is based on that date. In December 2024 they deposited it a day before they were supposed to I was told it was a mistake in their system, and had to wait for the check to clear my bank before I can renew my loan, the bank paid the loan of 352.50$ so on December 3, 2024 I renew my loan they said it was cleared in their system. On January 3, 2025 I went in to pay my loan which I paid my loan off then I was told that the bank had returned the the check to the state data base, so it look like I have 2 loans open. I went to the bank and got a print out of my account and the check was not returned I call the State Database and was told the bank doesn’t sent returned checks to them they are for the company to register my loans my State only allows 500$ they saw I had one with Check&Go and one with another company for 200$ and this database is check when ever I apply for a payday loan . I have sent a complaint to check and go. They keep back and forth I have tried to talk with the DM but was told they cannot give out that number I have been told so many conflicting things while they are still calling me and trying to draft my bank account they have been very rude the person at the store , my bank was on the phone with her trying to straight this out she hung up in her face,
My bank has bend over backwards to help straighten it out. All I get for Check and go or blocks. Check and Go not so much.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

I reject this response because I have contacted the former bank with whom I used to bank with before you close all your offices near ******** ***** and they said they could not retrieve the former routing number in banking account number because I have not banked with them for more than two years and there are no check n go near me The closest one to me is over 300 miles from my house near Dallas fort Worth Texas. And every time I call the 800 number that's the response I get and I talk to my former bank *** Bank they say that there is no ability to get the former routing and account number and I have not banked with them for more than 2 years again as I've said so I am rejecting the response because of that.

      Regards,

I applied for a loan with Check and go for the amount of 1400.00. I wanted to request a pay off amount of pay part of the balance to reduce my loan. I am not able to get online to see my pay off amount because they have disabled the payment buttons . When I called the phone number ************ the line is placed on hold over over 2 hours to get someone one on line in the payment department. When I called today on 12/16/2024 the agent who answered this phone number refused to provide the pay off amount and inflated the price to about 7000.00 I have never received a schedule and the person could not slowly explain what the payment is. I called again another number ************ and someone picked up who spoke very fast from another continent saying she is not on Check and go online so she transferred my call. When I got through after waiting for 25 minutes someone picked up and gave another set of payments and refused to give me a pay of nor explain why they are not able to move my due date. They also refused to tell me why I am not able to log online and see my payments on their app called pocket 360 and then i I asked for a supervisor who had the same attitude and gave me a pay off of 1615.91 when I asked him to repeat the payment again the refused to read it back and said its in the payment schedule but I never received the payment schedule they just funded my loan without a payment schedule. I would like an email for the schedule so I can track the loan and pay them off as soon as possible because they intent to gouge and delay communication to frustrate pay offs. So they can take more from the customer./ borrower
