The work was done in a timely manner I needed 3 heavy wooden gates strengthened and rotting trim on house front replaced and all windows and garage trim painted The price was acceptable even with additional caulking added on later While the bulk of the work was well done , the finishing was faulty A screw for a security window was hanging not replaced The sprinkler tube at the base of the windows was broken and just stuck in the ground without telling me I had gushing water when the sprinkler went on next day The hole for a sliding lock on one of the gates was 3/8 inch too high making it impossible to lock The front gate lock won’t close automatically when you shut it instead it must be done manually It is the little finishing miscalculations that convince me not to call on him to do any more work for me

Contracted services with company on 6/1/23. Owner required over 50% down payment. Informed owner that needed small project completed by 6/20/23 (i.e., 3 week window) and asked when could be started and how long the project would take. I was informed the project would start the following Monday (4 days out). On 6/14/23, the project had not started and was given a 2nd excuse. At that point, contacted owner and informed him that he clearly had overbooked his projects and that I felt my project would be complete on time. On 6/14/23, I requested a refund of my down payment. No response. On 6/14/23, I disputed the charged that were charged to my charge card--due to "not performing services" . By 7/10/23, had texted the owner on 2 occasions requesting the status of my refund. No response. By this tine, on 7/11/23 the bank that I submitted the dispute contacted me to see if I had further communication with the owner. I provided all the text messages (full of excuses) and "no feedback" regarding my questions regarding refunding for lack of services. On 7/18/23, owner miraculously texted me that he refunded my money. On 7/18/23, I immediately contacted my bank and informed them that the owner had refunded me and requested the case be closed as it was resolved. Ironically, the owner contacted me as after the owner had refunded, my bank still went forward and charged his bank to recover. This owner was not happy and questioned why I had put in a dispute. The real question is "why" did this owner take 5 weeks to respond to a refund request. All this could have been avoided if the owner would been proactive and refunded the customer's money when the contract was voided. My advise is to ALWAYS use a charge card for services rendered when down payments are required, OR to not deal with these service providers and agree to pay "as the service is provided". NEVER pay in cash or check to these service providers. Not a good practice.
