Always Open Automotive overcharged me for storage and towing mileage and enforces a cash-only policy that limits consumer protection in **************Details:********* Fee: My vehicle was stored from about 8:00 PM to 12:00 PM the next dayless than 24 hours. Under MA law, the maximum storage fee for a passenger vehicle is $35 per 24 hours, based on actual arrival and release timesnot rounded up (********). I was still billed for a full day.2.Mileage Overcharge: The tow distance is roughly 2.5 miles one way (5 miles round trip), yet I was charged for 8 miles at $4.40 per mile. Under 220 CMR ******, mileage beyond 5 miles can only be billed at $3.60/mile, and actual odometer readings must be documented on the tow slip. My invoice contains no odometer readings, violating this requirement.3.Cash-Only Policy: While MA law doesnt mandate card acceptance, MASSPIRG lists credit card acceptance as a key consumer safeguard. This companys cash-only policy reduces payment transparency and puts consumers at a disadvantage.Requested Resolution:A corrected invoice for storage and mileage.Refund of overcharged amounts.Assurance that the company follows MA towing regulations, including accurate mileage documentation.Recommendation that the BBB investigate and encourage adoption of credit/debit payment options.Regulatory References:Max storage fee: $35/24 hours (********).Mileage rates and odometer requirement: 220 CMR ******.Consumer protection concerns: MASSPIRG towing report.

February 1, 2025 I was driving on the highway and broke down and a friend called the cops to have them block the lane for safety, the cops had a company called (always open towing) come and pick up my car. i wanted to discuss with the tow driver that i wanted my car towed to my house so i wouldnt have to pay and extra fee, but the cop just wanted me to wait and have the car towed to their lot. We make it to the lot where the tow driver and my car is supposed to be and no one is there. We made a call to the business and the lady over the phone stated that they were unable to release my car because its the weekend ( non of this was discussed with me until after they had possession of my car) the lady over the phone was so rude and did nothing to help we had to beg her just to let us get stuff out of the car the next morning , well the morning of me getting things out of my car. the worker was very unprofessional, disrespectful, and didnt discuss any fees that would be due because of the towing. my uncle called later on in the day to see how much it would be getting my car from lot towed to my house they said it would be $400. All of this couldve been avoided if they went over policy or even had a discussion with me before taking my car.

I brought my car in to get the fuel pump replaced. They put in a defective part that caused more issues with my car and now refuse to refund my money. Not only was I overcharged, but they caused damage to my car to the point its not drivable anymore. I tried to speak to the owner, but he said F*** you, Ill see you in court. Car was brought in to get 1 part replaced now its not safe to drive after getting it back from them. And they stole items from my vehicle while it was in their possession. Car in question is a 2003 ******* Town Car. I will be filing a civil suit next week against this company. Now I have to find a different mechanic and pay more money to find out what they broke and to fix or replace it.
