TOTAL SCAM! Parked on A1A between ******** and Michigan St. Followed all the directions, placed ticket on Dashboard as the sign suggested. Within 8 minutes our car was towed because the tickets was not placed on the dashboard - they towed the car and you know what happens when the car is elevated from the front? The ticket falls to the floor. THIS IS NOT A CITY parking location. When you park in a city location, your car doesnt get towed, you just get a ticket for exceeding the time or whatever, but these scammers are only interested in towing your car and its very obvious by the explanation of the parking lot attendant. When we asked why he didnt look on the floor of the car for the fallen ticket he replied Its not my job. But he was quick to tell us where the car was towed. We called the police who were USELESS saying theres nothing they can do because its a he said she said situation. The police officer recommended we report the company to the BBB which is also USELESS because this company already has 20+ complains. The ***************** doesnt do anything, the cops dont do anything and the BBB cant really do anything. The people operating A1A Towing and Parking enforcement know all this because they suggested sarcastically that we call the cops if we didnt want to pay. Its TOO BAD many people people will continue to be scammed while the police and the city choose to let them. People think they are using a city parking lot, and these people make it look like a city parking lot, but no city parking lot tows your car, requires you to place a ticket on the dashboard. The city parking lots have meters that keep all that information stored. ***** ON everyone who knows about this and turn their head the other way. Total scam $175.00Business Response

Your car was towed because you didnt follow rules of the private parking lot and didnt display ticket face up on the dashboard.
We take 20 pictures of the car before towing it and we have proofs that your ticket wasnt displayed on the dash.

On Saturday October 14th, at 7:13 PM, I parked a VW JETTA tag 30DMHI in the parking lot located on 313 *******************. in *********, **.After paying $11 dollars in the kiosk, for 2 hours of parking , I placed the receipt on the dashboard and left.Apparently, when I closed the door, the receipt flew and was no longer visible in the dashboard.Approximately at 8:25 PM, I went to the car to get something and saw that a few minutes earlier, at 8:13 PM, two immobilization devices were put in the car.I called the phone number on the sign left in the car and explained the employee that showed up, that the parking was paid and the receipt moved after I left it on the dashboard, but he insisted I had to pay $75.98 to get the devices removed. If I had not paid for parking, I would totally understand paying the fee, but the parking was paid. It was only because the receipt moved that it was not visible.Even more, A1A did not tow the car, so there was no spent from A1A on the car. The only thing that was done was immobilize it, and with any spent easily the devices could have been easily removed, especially since parking was paid. No harm was done and no money was spent from A1A.For all these reasons, I request that the REIMBURSEMENT of the $75.98 paid (according to my bank statement, even though according to Broward County Ordinance, the maximum rate for Non-Consent Immobilization is $73.48) to my credit card, as soon as possible.Business Response

We explained you why your car was booted in person and over the phone - ticket has to be displayed face up on the dashboard. It should be visible. That is the whole point.
Rules are posted and sings and your ticket. All consequences of not following rules are posted on the same signs.
You didnt follow the rules and got booted.
Amount that was charged is correct. Difference is transaction fee, which we are allowed to include at the priceInitial Complaint

The company towed my car where there was no sign of towing warning. I caught them in the scene. Without knowing why they do that. The towing guy was ignoring me and ******* me to pay if i want my car. They charged me 169.3$ forced my to sign and didnt give me any receipt! Now as I searched more I realized that:1- they were not allowed to tow my car in the place that two so is not visible.2- they must have provided the receipt for me 3- even if they were lawfully towing my car ( which wasnt my case for the first reason) they must have charged me no more than 72.5$ per Miami county law (here is the reference for it ************************************************************************************************** )Apparently this company ( A1A towing and parking ) is well known for such frauds. Either they refund me or Ill dispute my transaction.Business Response

Your car was towed because you violate rules of the private parking. Parking lots is full of tow away signs and signs with rules of the lot that you have to follow.
Not following rules of the private lot leads to towing.
Everything was made according to the laws. We have photo and video proofs of your unlawful parking and legal reasons for towing.

On 9/13 my vehicle was towed from a lot where I always park when I visit Hollywood Beach. The machine was broken and I took pictures and put signs on my car stating the machine was broken and I had tried to pay as always. Not even 40 minutes later my rental vehicle was towed. I almost missed my flight and incurred $169 of expenses plus the Uber I had to take to the tow facility. Quite frankly this is a disgusting practice and I consider this robbery. I want my money back at the very least.Business Response

Hello,
I dont understand, why you even parked at the lot that is not allowing you to pay? There are multiple signs that are saying that you are on private property and no free parking any time. Also tow away signs.
So what made you think that you can park your car at the lot if meter is not working?

Illegally towed the meter was paid receipt attached. A1A indicates doubled parked, this claim is untrue and this company is known for claiming one or the other (double parked or paid receipt not displayed). No documents from merchant to prove without car being attached to their tow truck that car was double parked. Double parked according to Florida State laws is when the vehicle is over the white line and blocking another vehicle from parking a an adjacent spot. This didnt occur A1A towing provides fictitious claims of towing, which is unfair to the establishment. With the amounts of negative reviews I dont know how this establishment is allowed to stay in business. Theyre a fraud and an embarrassment to legitimate towing companies.Business Response

We paid for parking, displayed the ticket on the dashboard. Yet came to find the car was towed. The lady on the parking lot was unhelpful so we took an uber to the most unsafe location (with my hole family) so we proceded to try and explain that there had to be a mistake to the tow garage employee that she could just go and check and would find the ticket there. We asked for her to allow us to go in to look for the ticket she said we were not allowed. She asked for the licence and the car keys, we thought she was cheking for the ticket yet she abusively and without consent or permission got into the glove box to take the title out. Then she came back with the title and a check for 162 USD. We reminded her that it was illegal not to allow us to check our vehicle before charging to which se replied i am just an employee. Which might be true but this is a scam through and through finally she allowed us to get inside and take our car out.Business Response

This complain contains big number of inaccuracies and lies.
But I will talk only about one: you didnt follow rules of the private lot where you was parked. You had to display ticket face up on the dashboard and you didnt. That is why your car was towed.
Everything else what I read in your complaint is only emotional and subjective assessment of the situation.

On Tuesday 3-7-23 at 5:40pm we parked at a surface lot at ************************************************************ and used the parking kiosk to pay for 4 hours of parking totaling $18. The receipt was placed on the dash but apparently fell off when the door was closed. We returned to the lot at 8pm and our vehicle was not there. We telephoned A1A towing who's signage was at the lot and were advised the vehicle was towed because "we didn't follow instructions". The towing company had access to the plate number entered into the kiosk and could have readily seen that the parking fee was paid through 9:40pm yet they towed the vehicle at 7:24pm. We paid A1A towing $169.30 to release the vehicle. Upon entering the car, the receipt was found on the drivers side floor board. Please reimburse us for the towing charge as the vehicle was legally parked with fees paid through 9:40pm. Thank you.Business Response

This is only yours responsibility to display receipt face up on the dashboard. Yours and no one elses. So, please, do not blame towing company if it was you who failed to follow rules. Ignored 4 huge signs and instructions on the ticket.

I am rejecting this response because: This is the exact response I expected from A1A Towing who is not accredited with the BBB and has atrocious ratings within ****** and the BBB. The bottom line is the vehicle should NOT have been towed as parking fees were PAID through 9:40pm!
