Horrible experience! My teenage daughter who's a college student, brought her car to Audi Fort Lauderdale for repair. Since I live out of state, I did not go with her . The staff was rude and unfriendly (that should have given us a hint that they would be difficult to deal with). After agreeing to pay the $300 diagnostic fee they assessed the car. I offered to pay the fee up front and explained that I live out of state. I wanted to make sure that they would except payment over the phone. The service manager assured me that payment wouldn't be a problem. The estimate for the repairs was approx. $10,000. I was absolutely shocked with those prices especially since the car is 10 years old and probably only worth that. My husband found a different repair shop that services Audi's and we decided to take the car there. I knew that we would still be charged for the diagnostic fee, which was not a problem. I arranged a tow truck to pick up the car and then called to settle the bill. When I called I was told that I had to pay in person and I could not make the payment over the phone as originally told. I was then told multiple times that this was their policy. Audi said that the tow truck driver might pay the amount due and I could reimburse them. Sounded very unusual to me but I asked the tow company because at this point I felt helpless being a 1000 miles away and unable to go to the dealership. Also, I was not about to send my daughter back into that environment. The tow company said that they do not pay for repair services (not a surprise). They also said that this is what they do to make it difficult for customers when you don't get the work done at the dealership. Of course they would not release the car to the tow company with a balance due. After a back and forth and my husband being stern with the manager they finally accepted payment over the phone. The Audi brand has a great reputation, it's a shame this dealership doesn't uphold it.
