We took in a ********** car to AAMCO Transmission for a transmission tune up, they called us back saying that the transmission had a problem and we told them go ahead and fix it. The first month they did not call us to let us know whats been going on, so we had to call them and ask what was the progress on the car, they told us that they had found the parts to fix the car, but later on they called us back again saying that they didnt had the parts yet to fix the car and that theyll call us later. Three weeks later I went in person to the shop, they said that now they were looking for a used transmission because they could not find it because for a ********** car there was like 15 transmissions. At two months I went back because they never called or contacted me, they told us that the manager had quit and that the owner of the place was going to call me. I told them if they were sure because it had been two months and they had not fix or done anything to the car. The owner did call me and I asked him what was happening with my car because they kept on lying to me and he said that it was all the managers fault that he had left a lot of problems for him, the owner is now going to be there working at the shop, he gave me three options the first was to bring back my car home without fixing it but was still going to charge $1500 without even doing anything to the car, second option was to put in a used transmission the he already found with around ****** miles and charge me $4500, third option was to put in a new transmission but was not recommended by him because it was going to be very expensive. I decided to go through with the second option with the used transmission, he told me he would call me in a week saying the car was ready. Its been a month since he had said that. Its been exactly 3 months on September 9th and he has not called me yet. At this point I just want to take out the car but without paying $1500 because they have not done any work to the car.Customer Answer

On April 5, 2023, I took my 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser to Aamco The coolant overflow reservoir was bubbling and the check engine light was on continuously. The person I talked to at that time was the office manager ****. He said I would need to leave the car and he would get back to me. He also said there would be no charge for the diagnostic test I signed a form that showed the same. He did call me back but this time he informed me that my car would need thorough diagnostic tests however the cost for the detailed tests was $235. He also asked me for my date of birth. I asked him why and he said they needed it for their paperwork. I did give it to him however I suspected there was more to it as you will see. I am a black 72 year old female. The diagnosis was a bad water-pump. I had already paid for it to be repaired by another auto repair shop less than 9 months ago however I did give him the ok to proceed because I do need my car. My car was at Aamco for 13 days the first time and during that time they made numerous excuses for the time that it was taking. They replaced the water pump with a new one; and worked on the complete cooling system including installing a new thermostat. The cost $2135.00. Two days after I picked my car up the check engine light came on again. So I took my car back. After about 45 minutes a mechanic; his name is ***** told me it was the thermostat and the engine cooling fan was sticking however he could fixed those at no charge because they should have been checked to see if everything was working properly after the repair was completed. On Monday 05/15/23, I took my car back to Aamco This time an office manager *** called me and said, no ***** was wrong. It was the Camshaft sensor. It's cost $43, no labor charge. Several days later my car was ready but no charge or paperwork. The check engine light is on again. First I was told it was leaking oil; it isn't. A mechanic ******* says that it is thermostat/fan and I must pay to fix.Initial Complaint

3/22-*****************,AAMCO in *******(now closed but owns Aurora AAMCO)removed & rebuilt my current transmission. Work included an 18mo/18Kmile warranty. Warranty started at ****** miles. 12/25/22-Van broke down in ************ & towed to a shop in ******************** (SB).When towed, it wasnt clear what the cause was other than something visually hanging from the bottom. Upon diagnosis, the mechanic stated it was the trans that was hanging and being held up by hoses. Was told a new trans was needed, as it was improperly installed & damaged upon install. Current repairs include: new trans, mounts, bracket,&passenger side axle, as it was damaged by the trans falling out.2/3/23-Called AAMCO corp, was told to tow van to the nearest AAMCO, to be assessed & have a warranty repair. Van towed 2/9, photos were provided from the original tow *************************************************** AAMCO SB, said he spoke directly to the AAMCO Aurora shop owner (***) & would not honor the warranty bc it was diagnosed by another shop.2/14/23-Informed *********************** at AAMCOs corp office of this. She stated another shop, outside of AAMCO, CAN diagnosis the vehicle, especially since we werent aware this was a transmission issue. Said would call Aurora AAMCO & get it figured out. This was the only time I spoke directly to corp, yet left many messages.2/27/23-AAMCO SB said the final decision was the Aurora AAMCO will not authorize a warranty repair since another shop diagnosed the problem and they cant tell what caused it to fall out.2/28/23-***************** called saying the warranty is VOID, no discussion! Encouraged him to review the photos, he said he wouldnt & continued to verbally intimate me. He ended the call stating, I SAID ITS VOIDED, SO ITS VOIDED! And hung up.3/6/23-Van towed back to original shop that diagnosed it, as I was not comfortable with AAMCO doing the work. 4/7/23-Waiting for the rebuilt trans to be delivered, so the repairs can be started-paid a 5K deposit.Initial Complaint

Im back to file another complaint. My original complaint was filed 05/2022. I have tried to reach out to the **************** and the Officer ******* ***************** and I cant get a resolution or a return call or email. I have paid this company close to $4100 for a transmission repair that continues to be a problem. Every time the car goes back there is another excuse as to why they didn't complete the jobs right the previous time. I have taken my vehicle back to this establishment 5 times and this times excuse is the transmission wasn't done right and needs to be rebuilt. I would like my recent payment of $750 for a transmission hose refunded to me, because if the hose was faulty they should have told me that one of the other 4 times when I returned the car. I feel they are trying to blow my engine so I have to replace that and pay them more money. I would like my car fixed properly and a refund of $750. I want to NEVER have to take my vehicle back to place. This has been a HEADACHE for the last 9 months!!!Initial Complaint

First, of all I want to give you a little background on the car. The car used to belong to my mother. Since then I have been working to getting it fixed up. I have been working on it since the beginning of 2020. Slowly but surely I have done all the work on the engine, suspension, and tires. I have all the paperwork and service that has been done. The last work before taking it to Aamco was at Big-O when I had a check engine light. They ********* of the issues and let me know that the other issue was the transmission. I made an appointment to have the transmission to be serviced. Aamco diagnosis said I needed a new transmission. I went on to have the transmission replaced and since then the car is running worse. When I spoke with *******, she said the transmission was great but the engine was sputtering. I was trying to tell her that there shouldn't be anything wrong with the engine for I have pretty much everything done to it. I told her not to work on it because I am not paying for anything else aside from the transmission. After picking up the car it would die while at lights. It would also feel like it wanted to go forward while foot on brake stopped at a light. The car is not even close to what I brought in to service.
