In April 2023 I was admitted into the hospital for a blood clot in my right lung. While in the hospital I was given the blood thinner Eliquis. After leaving the hospital a prescription was written by the doctor at the hospital for Eliquis which Kaiser approved the medication. Later on, I was switched over to Pradaxa. This is Kaiser preferred blood thinner and it is a generic medication. Approximately 1 week after taking the medication severe rash, blisters, patches of eczema, bumps and dark spots appeared all over my body. I contacted Kaiser and requested that they change the medication back to Eliquis. I stopped taking Padaxan and resumed taking Eliquis. After one week the skin rash disappeared. Today Kaiser has declined the request for *******. They did initially but will not now. They will only allow me to use Xarelto which has serious side effects (higher risk for people 65+, fatal bleeding, skin rash, and one know is a serious issue with rash, bleeding, and other serious issues. Currently, there is a lawsuit which is related to adverse and life-threatening side effects. This is alarming as to why would Kaiser take me off a drug that is working and put me on one that has known serious side effects. Is it driven by cost, negligence, malice, and ego? I have sensitive skin and Xarelto is known to cause severe skin reactions. Kaiser's decline for Eliquis is a serious concern. They were provided ample information specific to the severe skin reactions to Pradaxa and science would tell you that is a high risk of this issue occurring with Xarelto. I do not want to be used as an experiment for this and the potential for life-threatening issues. They need to put the patient's life first and remove their ego and reckless behavior. They are not an advocate for the patient but advocate for-profit and behave unethically and recklessly. It is the pharmacy that is making the calls and they have ignored the doctor's request to honor the Eliquis. How can that be so?
