1 starWhen I went to Public Storage I was promised a Climate Controlled unit. When I went to check in my code didn't work and the unit was not climate controlled it was nothing more than an orange garage. When I complained, they told me I would still have to pay the first months rent. I asked for what I haven't even been in the unit yet. I disputed the charge with my Credit Card Company and they didn't pay. Now Public Storage has sent a Collection Agency after me to collect their fee. Looks like I may have to get an Attorney involved.Review fromJesse H

1 starAbsolutely horrible company. Public storage is a terrible place to get storage if you need to store your things. They will end your lease with them for no reason and not give you a refund. And there is no way to reach into the back of the units on the 2nd level because there is no step ladders, so you cannot even make total use of the space. Do not waste your money with this company.Review fromRachel T

1 starPublic Storage is a complete scam. You are required to purchase insurance through "Orange Door Storage Insurance" They do not verbally alert you to the coverage when you rent your unit, only that you get up to $5000.00 in coverage. It is in the fine print that "vermin" are not covered. They will give you $250.00, only after you pay a $100.00 deductible. Upon moving out of our unit into our brand new home, we discovered our entire unit was infested with mice/rats. We only rented for 6 months. Public Storage will do nothing to help you or fix the situation. They want you to remove all of your belongings that are covered in urine and feces. (A health hazard). The Orange Door Storage Insurance company does not respond to your claim. They will not answer your calls. All of these other reviews are true about this company. There are Tik Toks and news stories all over google about this happening to others. Do not use Public Storage or Orange Door Storage Insurance. We have lost all of our belongings because of their failure to maintain their property. They no longer even keep locations staffed with humans.Review fromLisavida J

1 starThis location is infested with mice. They charged me $691 for 1 month after their system voided my payment and didn't notify me until 9 days later and charged me returned check fees and late fees after I made my payment on time with my debit card. They refuse to give me a refund for the charges and we're set to auction my belongings after.almost 2 years of having my property in storage due to an unlawful eviction which resulted in the homelessness of myself and my 6 children. They don't have anyone to help or resolve these issues.Review fromJoan R

2 starsLocation *** Saw Mill River Road Yonkers Ny.
Don't rent a unit on the lower level.
Constant flooding. They call to make you aware. Need to move everything out so they can remove the water and dry out the unit. Then you have to put all back in. No compensation for the additional works placed by the renter
Then have the nerve to raise the rent by 60.00 per month
Disgraceful!Review from[email protected]

1 starI went to the Public Storage Unit to meet a gal who was selling me a couple of yard rakes from her rented Unit at XXXX XXth St W , University Place Wa.
As I pulled into the very small lot, I noticed one parking spot, which was taken. As i was starting to back up, this Rude Red haired lady came out and told me that I cannot park where i was. As the other car was leaving the parking spot, i proceeded to park there.
The gal I was buying the rakes from came out and looked worried and apologized for the red haired ladies attitude. And I could tell she was very worried by the look on her face. She told me that she is renting units due to her husband had to quit his business because he is in the hospital. Has cancer and only has 3 months to live. She also said that she is NO longer alowed to take anyone to her unit.
About to leave when pickup truck pulled up into the very small parking lot, with no place to park. The red haired lady proceeded to come out again to micro manage the truck driver, as she did me.
Yes, i had a few harsh words with her before I left. I told her that I was not a stupid person. That she didnt even give me a chance to process where i was going to park and now she is doing the same thing to these people who just arrived?
I left . The gal I bought the rakes from texted me to inform me that the Red haired lady running this public storage put permanent Locks on her storage until she moves all of her things out!!
How rude! No compassion, no kindness and understanding!
I called Public Storage on June 5th. Complained. They said it is not illegal for her to take people back to the storage unit to buy or purchase items from there. They were understanding and said someone should text me on Monday. It is Wednesday. I called them just awhile ago and cannot find my complaint with my phone number or Email address. I again tried to explain that all I want from them is to save her storage unit from being permanently locked. He said he couldnt help me.Review fromJohn D

1 starI made a payment before the 6th deadline to not have a $66 fee added for my 2 units. I paid online and used a different credit card. The page said thank you for your payment. Today i see the bill was not paid on the 6th and I called the public storage number on the web page. There is no link to a live human. I had to press the number for reserving a unit and ask the sales person to connect me to customer service. I have the direct California main number it does not allow a live human only a link to your storage location manager. So I get the salesman to connect me to customer service. I wait on hold for about 25 minutes. I get somebody finally and the say I need the last 4 digits of my DL to verify my info. I tell the women I have to go get it outside to hold on as I put my shoes on and go get it, Things got so unprofessional and heated almost instantly. She tells me she can't continue to hold so I say I going to get the ID it will take one minute, is there another way to verify? NO ok hold on. I cannot continue to hold, I say I just waited 25 minutes on hold you can wait a minute for me, I can't continue to hold. I say is there a supervisor I can speak with about my issue, No I cannot continue to hold. I said what is your name three thimes before she hung up on me. I called back and got a sales person to connect me again who was nice and was apologetic that I was disrespected so blatantly. I get to the next customer service rep after about 18 minutes this time Sheila - Fist right off the bat she wanted to make sure I understood that she was in charge and that I was at fault very rudly. I said I made payment do you show that it was at least sent? NO, Can you waive the fees if I pay right now? Thats a corporate decision. Can you check for me, The said NO one second later. I say also they want to raise both my units about 74 total in one month can you help me with that? NO. I say is there anything you can do to make me happy and not go to another storage company, NOReview fromFrank E

1 starMOUSE-INFESTED DISASTER
Do not, do not, DO NOT rent from this facility or company if you have anything of value. We rented two units for a little over a year and recently moved out. 30% of our possessions were destroyed by a mouse infestation. Mouse feces and urine covered every box and piece of furniture. Many boxes were "occupied" with contents destroyed. The Property manager "Raven" said she was "sorry, but there was little she would do" and even refused use of the dumpster, meaning we had to transport mouse "infested boxes" to home. We have confirmed at least three more units have also had mouse infestations.
Insurance? We were told our homeowners would cover ANY damage; however, our claim was denied because "rodent damage" was not a "named peril." Fine print to avoid paying the claim. Public Storage also hides behind the fine print in the contract to accept any responsibility for their filthy, rodent-infested property.
The property is rundown and in disrepair. Other unit door seals are worn out and have partially rotted away, leaving plenty of space for hordes of mice to enter from the woods and fields next to the property.
We contacted the "we (don't) care" support department, and submitted a request. Even spoke with the district manager Scott McBride who promised to help and said he would graciously refund 1 month's rent. Little did I know, he was lying and stopped answering his phone.
Public Storage has a saying, "Extension of your home..." 100% satisfaction. ALL LIES. AVOID this company and especially the St. Charles facility (4100 E Main St, St. Charles, IL XXXXX) at all costs.
They will do nothing to fix your problems.Review fromWilliam T

1 starNew customers beware, bait n switch prices. $65 rent increase after 5.5 months. Well above what other Public Storage properties are charging within the same driving distance. Did not comply with 30 day notice required for the rate increase.
Had hoped to be a long term renter here. But this company seems to be abusive across the board with unethical tactics
1) $1 move in come with $29 in administrative fees (fine print fee)
2) force you to buy lock from them
3) force you to also buy insurance from them with about everything possible excluded from coverage.
4) the rate you are told you **** be paying is short term and you **** be dealing with on going rate increases at there ****. When ever they feel like it and this first one is considerably more then market rate. 25% more then current rental cost
5) support is rude and unprofessional and **** talk over you and hang upon you. They Have no interest in long term clients, no interest in even discussing prices or long term rental.
6) the units themselves have no lighting. Only in the hallway
Would not recommend, especially of your looking for a long term storage companyReview fromNik A

1 starI have been a customer with Public Storage for about 2 years now. I have delt with the periodic rent increases as I understand they are necessary from a business prospective. During business hours, I was denied exiting the premises 2 separate times. This resulted in hours of hold time with their lack luster customer service team. I was told multiple times that I would have to either call the police to have them call so "they know I am serious" per one of their stellar customer service representatives, or I would have to abandon my vehicle and use the pedestrian exit. Not only is this extremely unprofessional, it is downright rude to a loyal customer. I spoke with a representative earlier this week when I most recently was denied exiting the premises as it was 9:15pm and they closed at 9pm. I understand not letting someone in, but denying them exiting? It is literally trapping you inside the gated premises. I was eventually granted exit after being trapped for almost 2 hours this time and I let the supervisor know that would be my last month renting there. She let me know that they should be able to cover a month rent payment for the inconvenience, which was the contingency of me staying. My auto pay was switched off last month. I looked at my account and the autopay was switched back on and they charged me for the month I was told would be covered! I immediately called in trying to rectify the situation to be told they can not cover a month now and "they are not alowed to say that". I reminded him that the calls should be recorded if he would like to hear it being lied about to me over their phone. I will be retaining legal counsel if this situation can't be rectified on a customer service level. What a shame that ANYONE would have to deal with such incompetence from a nationwide company. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
