in 2019, I had over $5,000 work done on a rack and pinion, bushings, shocks, and differentials. The only reason I went forward with the amount of work TCR2 suggested was necessary was that I was told the work and service would be warrantied for life. Given the value of the vehicle at the time (approximately $10,000), it was a tough decision for me to make. But I was assured repeatedly that all parts and service related to the work would be warrantied for life. A month ago (2023), I took the vehicle in for a door handle replacement, speedometer repair, and to diagnose a check engine light. For some reason, TCR2 started to diagnose the rack and pinion, rear differentials, and a variety of other issues that I had not asked for. When I asked why they were diagnosing issues that had nothing to do with the door handle or speedometer, I wasn't given a straight answer, and I was told that these added expenses would cost over $1,000. I asked if the work would be covered under the lifetime warranty promised in 2019 on the rack and pinion, differentials, and shocks and bushings, and I was told that the person who had made that statement ("****") had been fired and that they were no longer honoring the warranty (I was also told "****" had promised similar warranties to many customers and that they've since been denying to honor the warrantied work to customers.) I declined the added work that I'd not asked for, paid and left. I drove the vehicle 15 miles, and the check engine light came on again. I called and said the check engine light had come on within 15 miles, and they said to bring it back and they'd diagnose it again. Today they did the diagnosis, and are now saying additional repairs need to be done at expense to me. I've never felt so cheated ("misinformed" is the word in the written service statement) by a mechanic in my life.
