I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 4/12/2023. I had my car towed to mid island collision as it was an "authorized" porsche collision center which I was told by porsche and they recommended I go to this shop. My vehicle was initially estimated to be repaired but then my insurance company state farm re-evaluated the vehicle and declared it a total loss. The original estimate for the repair was $21,010.72 so state farm had sent a check on 4/28/23 to mid island collision for $20,510.72 (minus the $500 deductible my policy has). Mid Island Collision took the car apart and the state farm adjusted came back and saw evidence of further damage and the final estimate came out to be $52,158.59 to repair my vehicle. At this point state farm declared my vehicle a total loss. State farm tried to recuperate some of the money that was sent to mid island collision and they only received a refund of $4,414.84. Mid island collision charged $15,595.88 for labor, work, storage fees, etc as noted in their final invoice which is attached. State farm had advised me they did not approve of a lot of the charges and they only approve of $4,568.81 worth of the charges out of the $15,595.88. This was a $11,027.07 difference which I was left liable for. This difference was taken out of the equity which my car had built up for the value of my vehicle at the time of the loss. As per my conversations with state farm, there were many charges that should not have been charged such as some of the storage fees as well as a lot of the labor hours as that work was not performed on the vehicle. Also there were administrative fees that should not have been charged. I tried calling the shop and I kept getting the run around to email them which I did but do not get any replies. I have also gone into the shop a few times to discuss and kept getting the run around as well. I am hoping you are able to help me with this matter so we can come to a resolution. thank you
