            I bought a brand new celestron 8 SE from someone that was selling it online. They bought for their son inlaw as a gift. It turns out he has no interest in the hobby. So he decided to sell it to recover some of the money spent. It was still in the original packaging, unopened. After setting everything up, the image through the scope is terrible. I brought it to someone that has been doing this hobby for many years. He explained that it is perfectly collimated, but the optics themselves are defective. Thus giving the smeared, blurry image. It simply does not come into a crisp focus. Celestron explained to me that warranty on this product is non transferable. So I bought many accessories for this scope which can no longer be used. Money spent on a lemon.. I simply want celestron to honor the warranty for this product if it is indeed defective.

            Celestron offers a two-year, non-transferrable warranty to the original customer of our products when purchased from one of our authorized dealers or distributors. Celestron products re-sold between private parties do not fall under the terms of the existing warranty; however, customer satisfaction and product quality are of the utmost importance to us. If there is a concern related to an initial defect with the materials/workmanship, we are happy to assist in the resolution of this matter. Our Technical Support Supervisor will be in touch with you directly to discuss the next steps in sending the product in for a warranty evaluation.
