This company does not even deserve one star. Please do not waste your time working with them, especially if you are a voucher holder.
I reached out to them regarding a property listed on their website in Columbia,MD. I spoke with Leasing Agent Rebecca F***. Prior to completing application, I specifically asked her what credit score the owner was seeking. She informed me 625 and someone who could move with in 2 weeks. I submitted the applIcation, paid the 45$ application fee, and was scheduled to view the home. The day of the scheduled viewing Rebecca F*** called me an hour before the scheduled time to say she couldn't show me the home because she didn't have a babysitter. Unprofessional first impression. She rescheduled me for 2 days later. The day of that viewing I emailed her to confirm appointment time. She then responded stating the owner does not accept "housing vouchers".
I explained to her that that was discrimination which is against MD law and is a protected class of source of income. I informed her I would make a complaint because I met the credit score requirement, my background is clear, and my source of income meets rent requirement. She then stated, that Canton Management was told it was up to the owners to accept vouchers. I provided documentation showing her per law an owner can not deny vouchers unless he has fewer than 3 rental properties and is not working with a property management team.
I later received an email from Rebecca F*** stating my application was going to be processed and asking me if my voucher would cover the rent of 2800. I emailed her the necessary paperwork for my voucher and 2 point of contacts from my voucher program.
I was later contacted by Pat W***** the management company owner, confirming she has my documents. She then stated she never worked with vouchers in the county only in Baltimore City. To me that was discrimination right there, you're basically denying people with vouchers to rent anywhere outside of Baltimore City. She stated the home I applied for was not Howard County inspected which is a requirement per law to even be listed for rent. It is law that for a home to be rented in Howard County it has to have a license to rent, therefore prior to the home being listed for rent it should have already been Howard County inspected. So either the property management is working illegally or I was lied to avoid accepting my housing vouchers. I explained that it is required to have a license to rent and that my voucher program would not agree to a property that was not. She stated she would work on it.
Today, I was called by Ms. Pat W***** stating the home owner for the property actually fired them and didn't want to work with them as a property management team. I ended the call because to me you would go through the audacity of actually saying you were fired to avoid accepting my vouchers. Of course I checked the website and they still have the home listed for rent. If you were fired why are you still advertising the home for rent. Possibly to continue to accept 45$ application fees and deny renters. I am complaining to the housing authority for discrimination.
Please avoid working with these people. Unprofessional, illegal, and dishonest.

We have never managed this property before. It was a new account for us. When we approached the Owner regarding accepting Section 8 vouchers, he did NOT want to participate in the the program. We explained to the Owner that we can NOT discriminate due to Source of Income, and we needed to accept and process the application. Ms. R******* is confusing a "rental inspection License" with a "section 8 inspection". Either way, we explained to the Owner that we could no longer work with him, if he did not follow the guidelines.
We parted ways. CMC removed all advertising, which does not take effect immediately. It can take several hours, if not days, for the advertising to be removed. I have offered my assistance to Ms. R*******, and told her that I would be more than happy to assist her.
