We have purchased 15 vehicles from Rapids Ford in my family over the past decade and have always enjoyed our car buying experience. Recently, my husband and I each placed orders for new vehicles. We are definitely looking forward to our next purchases at Rapids Ford. In the meantime, we will continue to bring our current vehicles in for maintenance at the Rapids Ford service department. If you are looking for a business that will treat you right, this is the place!

Rapids Ford promised me a car they had arriving that was already dealer order. I have a paper trail via email stating that they would sell me the car at MSRP and then take over the order I had placed with them. Switching spots in the line to order a MachE. Once the car arrived nobody contacted me. I emailed and called with nobody getting back to me. They sold the car that was promised for way over MSRP. Choosing money over the promise in writing they made for my order. This is a scummy and fraudulent dealership. I hope nobody has to experience this and choose a different Ford dealer in the area. Outright lying and telling me too bad I needed a purchase agreement which was never offered at the time. Apparently anything is acceptable for them to make a few thousand more. Nothing was offered to make up for what they were claiming was a mistake. I repeat do not TRUST Rapids Ford.

We are sorry to hear about this experience. There seems to be some confusion regarding the communication (face-to-face, verbal, electronic and written) between the customer and sales consultant in this case. Without a purchase contract, unfortunately, there is no sale. The only thing signed was specifically for the vehicle that was going to be ordered. The vehicle was still in transit to the dealership, so no one would have contacted you to tell you it arrived, because it did not. Due to the current market conditions, most new vehicles are being sold above MSRP. This is not new information as it is all over the news. Vehicles in higher demand are sold for higher prices. The Mach-E is certainly in extremely high demand. We could wholesale a vehicle like this for more money than we sell them retail to a customer. Other dealers are buying these at the higher wholesale price and retailing them to their customers for an even higher price to earn a profit. We have been selling these vehicles to our customers for less than what we could sell them to another dealership for. That does not sound like a dealership that is just trying to make a few thousand more dollars to sell to someone else. Multiple sales consultants are constantly working with multiple customers and are all trying to sell the same vehicles from the same inventory. We are unable to sell the vehicle to you that you did not order, because another sales consultant, unbeknownst to the sales consultant you were working with, was also trying to sell the vehicle to a different customer. This customer came in and signed a purchase order for that specific vehicle, so it is no longer available. You originally placed a reservation on the 1st of December and came in person on the 2nd of December to sign the order and confirm the options you wanted the vehicle to have. We agreed to a price with you for the vehicle you were ordering. A couple weeks later, with your order still in place, a sales consultant spoke with you about a vehicle, not the same, but similar to what you ordered that is scheduled to arrive prior to when your order would arrive. You expressed an interest in that vehicle. Another customer working with a different salesperson also expressed an interest in the same vehicle. Just like you did when placing your order, this customer came into the dealership to sign a purchase order for that vehicle. If we tell Customer A that wants to buy a vehicle that they cannot buy it because Customer B said they were interested in purchasing it, but then Customer B never comes in to purchase itthat would not be fair to Customer A. Therefore, a signed purchase order is what binds a deal. You signed paperwork on the 2nd of December to order a vehicle for a price that we both agreed to. Of course, you would need to sign paperwork for a different vehicle if that is what you wanted to purchase. We do not play games, lie, or take advantage of people. We are sorry this did not work out the way you wanted it to. It is understandable that you would be frustrated because you would have to wait for the vehicle you ordered, but that was your original plan. If this other vehicle was never mentioned to you, nothing would have changed from when you came in on December 2nd to order your vehicle. Your order was still in place, and everything just reverted to your original plan. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and less than stellar experience you had with us. We would like an opportunity to try and make this up to you. If you would like to discuss this further, feel free to stop in and chat sometime.

This is email they sent me regarding the deal. They clearly went back on their written word and never offered a purchase contract at the time."I talked to my Sales manager, he said as long as we're ordering one for you, we would sell it at ****. He would be fine with putting the order in, and whichever shows up first (your preference on if you'd want your order, or the one we have on order if it got here sooner), we would sell you at the **** price."

The only way we could be "putting an order in" is with a signed purchase order. This is what was needed to solidify this deal, just like it was for the original order that was placed. We truly are sorry that this did not work out.
