      It took him two hours to figure out what might be wrong with our washing machine for which he charged us 78 dollars an hour and a 10 dollar trip charge. He told us he would arrive late morning he finally came at 5pm. The price he gave us to fix the machine plus the $166 was more than we paid for the machine originally needless to say we have $166 invested in a washer that still doesn't work.

      I am sorry you are dissatisfied. I agree that the prices for replacement parts now charged by WHIRLPOOL in particular and other manufacturers is exorbitant. It is partly due limited supply because factories were closed due to COVID-19 last year and because manufacturers and retailers do not financially benefit from repairing an appliance. Modern appliances have a life expectancy of 5-9 years before requiring major repair or replacement and may need numerous more minor repairs before that. Repairs costing $300-500 is commonplace. I explained that to you during my visit. .I charged my customary diagnostic fee which is significantly LOWER than the national average of nearly $120/hr. Why did you neglect to mention you bought your washer USED several years ago? It is possible your washer may have not needed the entire gearcase assembly. ONLY an expensive complete teardown would determine that. WHIRLPOOL and it's parts distributors make obtaining those individual parts difficult - if even possible - to obtain. I am sorry you are layed up due to an injury. I hope you FULLY recover and are eligible for ********* compensation or ******************** The last I checked, ******** had low priced MEDIA brand washers in stock. Again, I am SORRY you are displeased. I wish you would have said so when I was at your home. I asked if you were disabled due to your injury. You replied thst you were not. We do offer a significant discount on labor for disabled and retired customers.Sincerely,J. C, Proprietor
