The only reason I gave a 1 star is because there is no option for negative stars. Had JB Asphalt replace our driveway along with two of our neighbors driveways this spring and am very dissatisfied. To begin with they were fairly prompt to come out and bid and get contracts but once that was done it was almost impossible to get any information from them. They have the worst communication I have experienced in over 50 years in the construction industry. They dont return calls; the only way I could get them was when they happened to pick up instead of going to voice mail. When they promised a scheduled time/day it was invariably postponed, again without notice. They just didnt show. When they did finally start there was no notice, they just showed up. My wife had to call me from a job I was doing to be here. They started by not grading as had been discussed with the estimator and had to correct the slopes for proper drainage. No transit was used to establish grades, only a 4 level. As a result, one neighbor has unsatisfactory drainage and has been arguing with them to make it right. The other neighbor had some damage to a brick planter that the assured her would be repaired. After almost 2 months she finally paid a masonry contractor do the work.The quality of the asphalt finish is very rough with large pitted areas which I guess is normal for this company as ***** assured me that asphalt would always go down like that. Evidently they dont know how to finish it like other companies I have worked with over the years. Properly done, asphalt has a uniform somewhat smooth surface with no pitting that will cause early failure. What I have is heavy pits that will trap water, freeze, expand and contract thus loosening the aggregate.I guess I should have given more credence to the negative reviews.
