      I brought my Subaru Crosstrek to Carter Subaru to fix a peculiar issue the car was having. My Crosstrek was making a loud thunking sound accompanied by some vibration feedback that could be felt through the steering wheel when making tight turns. What made these issues extra odd is that they only became noticeable after driving the car for a good 30 minutes at freeway speeds. I explained all of this in detail to *****, a manager at the Carter Subaru *************** ***** then told me they would need to charge me $995 to diagnose the issue. When I asked why so much for a diagnoses, ***** told me it was because his technician would have to disconnect the clutch from the transmission and take everything apart to figure out what was going on. ***** called me the next day to tell me my issue was with the clutch and that I needed to replace it. I went with ****** recommendation because he works at the Carter Subaru *************** the place I bought my car from, he is the expert. Carter Subaru replaced my clutch, I picked up my car and didnt even make it home before it became clear that the issues I brought my car into Carter Subaru to fix, remained unchanged. When I went back to Carter Subaru and told them all of the original issues were still there and completely unchanged, they had a technician come out and listen to the car while I was there. Within 60 seconds the tech said I had a bad viscous coupler. ***** called me the next day and told me it would be $2000 to replace the viscous coupler. Wow. I went to Carter Subaru and was willing to pay their astronomical labor cost because I thought I could trust them. I thought I would get a first class experience. But instead what I received from Carter Subaru was the kind of unethical con job that has become all too common in the automobile repair business.

      The issue has been resolved and the customer is happy. We credited the customer back the amount of money for the miss diagnosis.

      We took our car in because our mirror was melting. We no longer trust them and will no longer suggest them to other people. After several conversations, they just look like liars. Our advisor texted us saying its a outside force (possibly a lighter) that caused it so warranty would not cover and be $300 (I saved the text message). Then left a voicemail (which I also saved) saying he would get a field rep in because he saw other forums about it but never did and asked us the following day to pick up our car. He told us Subaru of America needs to give approval for the service to be covered so we did that. Left voicemails to the service manager and never got a call back. Complained/emailed to **** while my friend who works at a sister chain tried to help me. Then I receive this NASTY phone call from the DIRECTOR telling me I was wrong for that email sent to the executives and he was only helping out a friend, which indicated he was not helping me as a LOYAL CUSTOMER. Told me to take my business to Eastside as stated in my email. Just so you know, ****, I had every right to do that and dont regret it. Which I did and got my mirror fixed, that turned out to be internal wiring damage on the report. Then I got a phone call from Carter Subaru stating my pieces for my mirror was there and I could come in. Anyways, I would never recommend anyone coming here again after so many years of boasting about them to others. This relationship with Carter is severed and just as I told the **** I would never mend this relationship with them again.
