My mother and sister went to purchase a car in February 2023. No less than 2 weeks later, they start to hear an unusual noise, like a knocking sound. They call the salesman at Gene Gorman to get it checked out. After many phones, my mother started to get ignored. All of a sudden, that person is either off for the day or busy. They were never given a CarFax report. They claimed to do a pre-inspection on all vehicles but never got that report either! Because they were desperate for a car they were taken advantage of. When my husband and I went to help them get some answers, the salesman and manager gave us lies, again requesting the report and they claimed only the repair shop could give it to us. Lie. The manager claimed he knew the person that had the car previously and how she took good care of it. Lie. Again where is the CarFax to show it? After we didn't back down, they said you'd have to call Gene Gorman yourself, and he will for sure call you back. Lie. Didn't happen. Called him twice, my mother once. We left the lot, and then immediately, the car started smoking and stalling. We left it there. They finally said we would have the repair shop fix the oil leak. Back in March, their own repair shop tried to charge her $3000 to help repair this oil leak. After two days they claimed the oil leak was fixed and would fix the other problem. When they picked it up, they only put some piece on for the oil leak. The engine light is still on! Never I mean never should anyone purchase from Gene Gorman!

      Hi *****,

I didn't return the call because I was on the phone with the manager while he was speaking to your mother and sister in person. We offer a carfax on every car we sell. They are free on our website. We have nothing to hide with any car we sell. They brought the vehicle to us with a oil leak concern. On that day we set an appointment to fix it because they were in a hurry and had to leave. Then they missed their appointment and didn't come back for a month. We keep all records in our database at the shop. The fix was a pcv valve. The shop quoted that plus they recommended a timing belt because it is normal maintenance for a car with that many miles. **** was simply a recommendation. The vehicle has over 100k miles and was sold as-is. They did not opt to buy the extended warranty so normal procedure is the customer pays for all repairs. The first thing I said when it was brought to my attention was "we will cover the pcv valve". We want all of our customers to be happy as possible. Driving for a month with a oil leak could of done more damage than necessary. If the check engine light came back on have them bring it by the shop. There are hundreds of reasons a check engine light can come on. It could be as simple as they didn't tighten the gas cap. We will do what is fair when we know more about what the problem is. Feel free to send me an email and I can send you the carfax. If I remember correctly this is a ****** corolla. They hardly ever have issues. This was not about getting a bad car. This was about no wanting to pay for a repair on an as-is 100k mile car a couple weeks after it was purchased. I gladly approved that request and will make sure we get it running the way its supposed to.

I am always available if I feel that one of managers can not handle a situation or is not taking care of our customers. I am also very busy and I felt that a $270 PCV valve was something that could be handled without my direct attention.

      Kind Regards,

      **** Gorman

My parents purchased a vehicle and were told they had a 90 day warranty from the day of purchase. After 30 days they had issues with the door lock and the warranty was honored. 2 weeks later they had to replace the AC compressor and tension belt at the cost of $1900. They refused to honor the warranty. Don’t trust them! Especially Rick.

Bought a Mini van from them a few months ago. All was great to start. A couple weeks go by and the back AC unit stops working. I contact them and speak to Gary the assistant manager. He says since we have a 90 day warranty to take call their shop and schedule and appt to have it looked at. AC does not work for 3-4 days. Then I take it in after they pull it all apart working again, they banged on motor to make it go. So good for another week, then stops again. Take it in again and same problem, they pull apart bang it around and starts again. Fast forward to today OCTOBER 12. I take it in, thinking they should honor warranty as it has not worked for another week and a half and this was something that has been going on for a few months now. I got hit with a $387 bill for the motor and the labor. This shop is 30 miles from my home why would I have brought it here if warranty was not going to apply since this has been going on since right after we buy it. I called Gary and he speaks to sales manager Chris and guess who had to pay the bill. ME. The customer who has been trying to have them honor the warranty they gave freely and be decent people and live up the their word. But I guess this is not the case! We will not go back and tell everyone to run away. I hate doing this but everyone needs to stand by their word and make things right. Its not like this just happened today and I was aking for something way past warranty. This happened right after we bought it and they still wont honor it. Shame on you!
