If I could give no stars I would, charged an outrageous service fee cause they could not do the job,not even told about the fee on the phone, was told it was a Charlotte county utilities issue, and was told by CCU that because they knew it was a CCU issue we should not have been charged a service fee, would highly not recommend

I have a warranty issue that I have not been able to get them to correct I was in contact with Jeremy F for awhile then they wouldn't return my calls or emails. I get it it will not be a cheap or easy fix but I would hope they would stand by their work for the 5yrs they offer a warranty on. A family of 5 in a new construction home should not need 3 pump outs in less than 4yrs and we follow all the rules for septic care. It really sucks because we feel helpless against these big companies and it doesn't seem like anybody cares! It's sad to say but I can see why there are so many negative reviews but our builder chose this company not us.

      Martin Septic Service, Inc. Response

      05/04/2021

Martin Septic is a "small" family owned business operating since 1986. The onsite system was installed February 2017 and passed all three (3) required inspections by the Department of Health. Upon visiting the site in June 2019, December 2020 & January 2021, grease was found in the system on all 3 occassions. Unfortunately, the manufacturer warranty is void if any fats/oil/grease are present. When we talk about FOG it could be residuals from cooking oil, body lotions, liquid fabric softner, liquid detergent, bath bombs, bath soaps, etc. Fats/Oils/Grease form a layer of biomat under the drainfield and seals off the field restricting the necessary percolation of the water/effluent. Once a system has grease and/or biomat present in the system, it cannot function properly and would be in need of replacement.
Keep in mind the life of an onsite system is completely determined by what is being introduced into the system from inside the home or possible root intrusion from outside the home. In this case it was the introduction of FOG from inside the home that attributed to the premature drainfield failure. Replacing the drainfield will only be a viable solution if the owners refrain from introducing fats/oils/grease into the system.

Martin Septic uses Polylok Septic Filters/Traps which according to Polylok prevents grease from going into the septic field, the filter has always been in place. According to Martin Septics statement we are not allowed to use bath soap or liquid detergent with our septic system, with all the septics out there nobody uses bath soap or liquid detergent? Our cooking oil/grease gets captured and has been since the company was out in 2019 and discovered their tee to the drain field was installed incorrectly, the tech gave us tips and pointers and we have been following those since. We also do not use liquid fabric softener. Martin Septic also states they have been to our home to inspect for grease, well we have security cameras and they have not been on any of them. Martin Septic has not told us our warranty was void in fact as stated in my original complaint there has been a lack of communication. This to me is just a company that is not standing behind its product and simply dismisses our trouble with the FOG statement and we can't use bath soap or liquid detergent which lets them off the hook.
