We contacted West Coast Fence to replace our exiting fence and install a double gate. Although the price seemed a little steep (Post Corona Virus) we were told we needed to provide a deposit, which we paid. We were given an install date and were told we were placed on the schedule. A week before the install, 811 Dig came out to our house, unannounced at did not get in the back yard to check anything, so my wife called and spoke with a member of the staff at West Coast and they were told how to get into our backyard so 811 DIG could check it out. My Wife was told they got the green light from 811 DIG which seemed weird because no one checked, or looked around (we have cameras). While on the phone my wife confirmed that we were still on the schedule for the following week and she was told they were running a day behind. The next Monday I called to again confirm and keep the lines of communication open as we all have to be open-minded and somewhat flexible with the way things are. I spoke with a staff worker who told me they were a day behind and that I could call the afternoon of the day before the install to check again. So that's what I planned to do. On the day before the scheduled install I called again to see which day they installers would be here and I was told they were running a day behind, so then I tried to confirm that if they were a day behind then what time would they be there on the following day. "The manager", who never told me his name, answered on the phone and told me again that they are running behind and he can't tell me until the day of the install if they are gonna make it on that day. I tried to explain that I want to be present for the install and we told me that I should not have taken a day off of work. Although I appreciate his concern for my accrued leave, I will be there on the date of the install as long as I knew what day the install would be. Now with this being said I understand the demand for all types of products and materials in every profession, but there is a expected level of communication and understanding that without only makes things more difficult. "The manager" then said "Look I'm not going to go back and forth with you We will get there when we get there". I was truly shocked, not to mention upset with this statement from a company who has my deposit, I would assume they would be more courteous and understanding with customers as they don't want to lose business. What I came to realize was that WEST COAST FENCE CORP obviously is in a position in which I feel they are taking advantage of the limited materials and supplies and over promising what they cannot deliver and if you will allow yourself to get lied to and mistreated then they will eventually get to you. Sad to say that after waiting over two months for a few panels and a double gate to be installed "The manager" refunded my deposit. It is my belief that had we not called and tried to communicate with this horrible company they would have still be avoiding the job we entrusted and put down a deposit to do. After reading other reviews for this company I know I am not alone with the way in which WEST COAST FENCE CORP treats their customers. We ended up using a smaller named company that delivered the product and installed our fence and gate without any over-promising. In my opinion, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
