This dispute is over a charge on a transmission repair that was substantially different from the original verbal quote with no explanation in person or on the bill. Transaction date: 11/27/2023-12/03/2023.Verbal quote: Labor and parts approximately $200.Paid: $537.50 - 12/03/23 Work to be done: Replace rear housing bushing in ***-10 4 speed. Check chip on driveshaft and replace universal joints.Additional Concerns: Technician tried to convince me to let him swap my **** Corvette rear housing with another generic housing that already had the bushing in it. The serial/part numbers for the transmission are on the housing so I was shocked by this suggestion.Work completed: Rear housing bushing replaced with used part which was agreed upon. He stated new parts were on backorder which was untrue after making some phone calls. I was told the balancing on the driveshaft was checked which is NOT the work requested.Dispute nature: Overcharging with no explanation when asked in person nor itemization on the receipt. When I asked for details the office manager responded with condescending remarks and nothing more.I have no problem paying the original $200 which is still high for the work that was done based on other shops I have contacted since the event ($100 labor plus $25 parts). My credit card is in dispute still and I am providing more information to the card company.Based on other recent reviews I am not alone in this situation and I wish I had known before. The only reason I went to this shop was it was recommended to me by another transmission shop that did not work on manual transmissions. I called them back after the experience and explained what I was charged and he was shocked and could do nothing but apologize. I suggested he did not send other customers there due to the questionable business practices and ethics when it comes to valid billing and standing behind their initial estimate.
