            In May 2023 we hired Back To Basic Builders to restore our kitchen from a dishwasher leak. We filed a claim with our insurance company and *** worked with the insurance to get the claim approved. Once the claim was approved we gave *** a down payment of $9000. He sent us a partial spec of our kitchen layout. I reached out to him middle of May 2023 stating I haven't received the full kitchen specs. I did not hear back from him. I sent follow up emails and voicemails and I did not hear back from him for over a week. On May 23, 2023 I received an email stating he closed his business. He called me a few days later and offered to work with me "free of charge" and I could pay his contractors directly. We turned down this offer and asked for a refund since work never started on our kitchen. He said once he sells equipment he would refund us. It is 8/25/2023 and he has not returned any phone calls or emails. We still do not have a working kitchen and we are out the insurance money we gave him so we can not finish our project.

            Joe ****** of Back To Basics Builders cashed our $11,500.00 check in downpayment on a bathroom remodel job in mid-May, 2023 *just a week or so before closing his business. Unfortunately, my husband and I were referred to him by a plumber from a reputable local company. Now I feel swindled and foolish, as I really should have known better (instincts). Joe ****** has so many people after him right now, I sure wouldn't want to be THAT GUY!......Hard $$ lesson learned, on both ends, I am sure.*** *******
