I recommend no one ever using this company for any services, they advertise affordable prices. They price gouge, I got my truck pulled out of a snowbank during a blizzard warning it was 4' off the road. Driver pulled hooked the winch up, went back to his truck got in and sat for 20 minutes. Truck was out in 5 minutes, 15 minutes driving time, 5 min work time. He comes up and says $415 with a grin on his , state of emergency blizzard warning. The law in Wisconsin clearly states price gouging during a state of emergency is a $10,000 fine , I was prepared to pay $150-$200. False advertising- affordable. That driver with the grin really shows the character of this company, zero integrity. I'm sending a complaint to the ********* ***** ******** on Monday complaining price gouging

Thank you for your review. Your vehicle was retrieved from the ditch way on January 12, 2024 during the extreme frigid temperatures with snowing and blowing that was unsafe to operate on the roadways. Your 2015 Chevrolet 2500 series pickup was in several feet of snow. A medium duty ****** pound GVW 2022 Dodge 5500 series with integrated wrecker and hydraulic rear stiff legs was dispatched to remove your vehicle. The cost of this tow truck is $199,900. These vehicles have a shelf life of typically 3-5 years before replacement occurs. Without insurance costs, driver wages, fuel, tools, diesel exhaust fluid, maintenance and more you can only imagine the operating expenses of this tow truck. Our charges were as follows: $355 for the winch, 11% fuel surcharge (standard in the industry considering fuel has skyrocketed) plus 5.5% sales tax of $21.72 As you can equate it takes about 1 hour of travel time alone to get from service to service in extreme winter conditions. Once the truck is on site, the trained operator extricates the vehicle in question. This trained operator may make the job look easy but do understand that operator has 7 years of experience doing his job at this company. Our staff is knowledgeable, caring and very good at what they do to ensure they are safe and other motorists do not get hurt. The synthetic cable used on the tow truck is $405 for 100 feet and is a wearable item as well. Towing pulley-blocks used to change the direction of pull, chains to connect to your vehicle and locking clevis or swivel hooks are used to ensure the casualty makes it back to the roadway without further incident. Your vehicle was removed without any further damage and you went about your day slower I suspect as to not go back into the ditch again. For all of the reasons above and many more of the iceberg below the surface that you don't see (dispatchers, mechanics, property tax, excise tax, advertising, oil, management, accounting, computers, electricity, natural gas, cleaning, health insurance, dental, eye, disability insurance, hand equipment replacement, the list goes on..) we feel our charges are reasonable and very fair for what goes into a 24/7 emergency response. Our offices never close, not for one single minute, as we are a 24/7 operation with similar expenses to a 911 communication center, police department, fire department or EMS. Hopefully you see the benefit in retrieving your vehicle quickly, without damage and safely with no one getting hurt. We are happy to know you were not injured in the incident and our towing operator is happy to have helped. We are sorry we did not meet your pricing expectation and hope you understand that all businesses have taken substantial increases over the past three years which reflects our costs. If needed we can submit photos of the vehicle reflecting the unsafe travel/road conditions.

We are saddened to see your response. Our services can be difficult when there is a mechanical failure on the vehicle that is being towed. Your ball joint/control arm was broken prior to us towing the vehicle. This is in fact why the vehicle was being towed. This component is what connects the tire to the suspension and is critical in transporting any vehicle that it be connected. In the process tools are used to protect the vehicle and the safety of our staff. If damage occurs that is out of our control we would not be responsible. Once your mechanical repair is complete the cosmetic repairs can be assessed in person.

They are unprofessional and tow vehicles with or without permit in their own apartment complex. They need to be investigated.

Our services are contracted by landlords and property management companies to monitor and manage their parking lots from parkers without valid permits. Each lot has specific rules that we adhere to just like what is in a tenant's lease. It is unfortunate we are reviewed negatively when we are following the guidelines set in place by the property owners and outlined in the lease in which to follow.

They are charging me an extra 145 cause I have a Jeep whatever that means on top of $3 a mile fee. That’s ridiculous and a scam if you ask me why am I being charged all this extra money for my car and I live at the place they towed it from.

Well first of all they say they didnt have key for vehicle but wen we picked up vehicle girlfriend notice seat was pulled way back plus they charged us an extra 145 for some equipment they had to use , well they r equipped with all sorts of equipment for every senerio, so shouldnt be our fault to get that vehicle towed , thats their job priority to tow vehicles not for equipment to use to tow vehicles its there profession they chooses to go , your job gives u the equipment to do your job not customers buying your equipment for them so this substantial fee is literally ridiculous for every person,

Where do I start with this review… the first thing I will say is, if you get to choose who tows your vehicle DON’T CHOOSE Prairie Land Towing. They are crooks! My daughter was in a car accident on Sunday 8/14/22. So my husband went to Prairie Land the next day, 8/15/22, to get it out, the bill was $1696.62 (I have picture proof)! Looking through the bill that I shared with a couple of friends, they told me to reach out about AFUEL SURCHARGE (DEF) Does this even make sense to you? No where does it say percent. Where the tow truck would come from the morning of the accident. Either a total of 16 miles or 28 miles to and from the scene. Then also going through the bill - ACCIDENT SAFETY APPAREL/EQUIPMENT - hmmmmm… the driver/operator is wearing what?! I see Firefighters wear better safety apparel than that and they also touch and deal with the car at accidents. Accident Disposal Fee - what did they dispose of? We have the car! Cleanup/dollies/snatch blocks - we have witnesses that my husband and father in law cleaned up and put the broken pieces in the car. There is so much wrong with this bill. I could go on. The amount is outrageous! My husband personally knows the owners and reached out to one of them to see if they could find it in their heart to drop the cost even the tiniest, to help out a 17 year old that had her first accident, that when the accident occurred she was NOT on her cell phone, had a seatbelt on, doing the speed limit, not goofing around… just a simply over worked nursing assistant! We need more kind and caring people in this world! Unfortunately, this is not Prairie Land Towing! I understand they have to make a living/money BUT this is was a little steep for a 30 minute load and my family cleaning up the site for them. Pretty sad. Recently I have received messages back from multiple other tow companies and they were WAY LESS! Hope this review saves someone from being in the same position as we are in.

This company illegally towed my son's car from a legal parking spot near Dominion property they contract with in Shorewood, WI. We originally thought the car was stolen. Nothing left at the parking spot to let us know what happened. I contacted the Shorewood police department and they had no immediate record of the car being towed. I only discovered where the car was through the Verizon Hum device we had on the car. I sent the police officer my pictures and agreed this company totally messed up. I called this company and the manager is totally dumb since he reviewed the pictures they took and also did not see the error they made. They obviously do not know how to do their job. They made offer to get my son who was without a car and lost wages for that day. These people serve no useful purpose on this Earth and should consider a different business to mess up.
