Purchased home from Oevering Homes LLC in November 2021. Had annual warranty walk-through within first year in September 2022. Builder confirmed at that time that the siding which was falling off and bending on all sides needed to be replaced. In June 2023 Oevering dropped off some of the siding on our driveway but most material was missing. The material was also not placed on pallets and secured properly. The material was left on driveway for months with no labor being scheduled and very little communications. The material is unusable according to the siding contractor and needs to be reordered. Oevering paid the siding company ********************** for a portion of the siding but did not reorder the new siding so Built Strong could not schedule the labor. Also, all walls within home had nail pops and needed correction and painting and a quote was received from a painting contractor for $7k. At this time Oevering has been taken over by Advant Builders. I have over fifty email communications admitting their fault and the work that needed to be completed. I need to file a claim with their insurance but no one will call me back with that information.

      Hello and good afternoon,

Oevering Homes, LLC decided to shut down effective 8/14/2023, and is now unwinding any remaining business.  Oevering Homes is aware of the siding issues, and did commit to providing replacement vinyl materials for the entire house (Labor assigned to ********************** - contractor of homeowner's choice).  Since the dissolution of Oevering Homes, securing new and/or additional materials from our past vendors has been a complicated process due to account closings.  Despite the closure of the business, we consider this part of our unwinding business, and are still committed to making the exterior repairs as discussed.  However, in notes from the June walkthrough, the homeowners have taken on interior painting projects that might affect our ability to provide drwyall/paint service through our original contractor, due to the change in sheens/finishes.

Oevering homes committed to giving us a 12 month warranty from the "date of completion" which in our case was the date we took occupancy (August 25th, 2022). When purchasing the home we noticed the concrete porch falling towards the house so that water was collecting against the house. They agreed to send people out to fix it. It seems that they tried to raise it up, however the problem was never corrected. Water still accumulates against the house. On several instances we have contacted Oevering homes through email to the architectural designer (our contact person when we were purchasing the home) to fix it and she said she would forward our concern to the necessary people but there was never any follow up on their end. This summer (June 30th, 2023) I contacted the warranty team to set up a visit to address the porch in addition to several other small fixes. We set up a meeting for August 16th, 2023 at 10am. We had been in contact up until August 14th, 2023 when they confirmed they got our list of things we wanted fixed. After no one showed up on the 16th, I emailed and called the team but received no communication. Yesterday August 21st we received a letter stating the company has dissolved and they can no longer honor the warranty of our home. We are frustrated because this has been a continuous issue that the business has appeared to "put off" and we want it fixed because this could be especially costly for us in the future.

      Hello and good afternoon,

I am sorry to hear of the outstanding issues still present at your home.  Our records show multiple attempts have been made to the original flatwork contractor, to repair/replace the front stoop, that is now collecting water. Ultimately, Oevering Homes, LLC decided to shut down effective 8/14/2023, and is now unwinding any remaining business.

If you would like to discuss any outstanding issues, please reach out to me directly at ************ or *********************************

We recently purchased a new home from Oevering in July of 2021. During the building process we had many concerns about water drainage and wanted to ensure our property wouldnt have any issues. We were ensured multiple times by Oevering that we would not have any water issues and that everything was done correctly. If we did have issues to reach out to them to resolve. After the recent snowmelt this spring and heavy rains, we have had nothing but drainage issues specifically where our concrete driveway and gravel driveway meet. Causing excess of 4 inches of water or greater to gather in this spot making our driveway unusable. Weve had many people get stuck in our driveway as well as ourselves. We had other driveway contractors out here to provide us with some guidance on how we can correct the issue and each response is the same. If your builder would of installed this correctly, you shouldnt be having these kind of water issues. If the concrete driveway was installed incorrectly and the gravel portion graded and packed down correctly, these would be properly draining causing no need for this type of water build up. After reaching out to Oevering to help resolve the issue, we were basically told to pound sand. Negligence on their behalf - knowing their building a home at the bottom of a hill, clearly foreseeing this of being an issue, and instead of warning us about it or preventing it in the first place with a finished grade - they ensured us with the grading we received it would never be a problem. Now it suddenly comes to fruition on their behalf that living at a bottom of a hill will cause drainage issues and is ultimately inevitable but in order to close the sale we were provided with false information. I will provide documentation to support this and am happy to dispute any response you would receive from them if they provide one, as theyve tried lying already. Now to permanently correct this issue we have to pay upwards of $15,000 to get this fixed.

      Hello,

We are sorry to hear of the issues that the driveway is causing this spring.  The driveway that is in place is a class 5 gravel driveway, which is standard for our country builds. The house is built at the bottom of a hill, roughly 120 feet from the shoulder of the road.  In that span, the grade drops about 13 feet, which can be seen on the attached site plan.  The clients asked to install an apron in front of the garage (20x30 - dimensions approved by homeowner), which takes up a portion of the driveway length.  We also submitted a price to the homeowners for a concrete driveway, which they declined on 5-5-2021.  When the homeowners made their initial complaint, representatives from our company visited the property, in person, and met with the husband.  At that time he indicated that the couple were in discussions about paving the driveway on their own.  In good faith, our warranty department offered to fix the eroded driveway at a one-time, no-cost option for the homeowner, with the understanding that they will need to provide preventative measures before the next spring thaw occurs.  We have also explained that if the water is not diverted from the apron, it will get underneath, and over-night freezing temperatures in the springtime, can cause it to heave.  It is the opinion of Oevering Homes, that the only permanent fix for the driveway (and apron draining), is to replace with a hard surface (concrete or asphalt), which again was offered, and declined.  Additionally, this house was under construction for months prior to the signing of their purchase agreement.  When we gave assurances that they would not have drainage issues, that is predicated on the homeowners maintaining the grading on their lot, and providing landscaping to divert water properly, and installing a hard surface driveway (homeowner maintenance items).

      Thank you for your time,

      Sincerely,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We did request a quote for a completed concrete driveway at the time and the reason we didnt move forward with that quote was because the cost was extremely high and Oevering had reassured us once again we wouldnt have drainage issues. So at the time based on conversations with Oevering they led us to believe we shouldnt see any problems. We were also told multiple times if we had future issues to reach out to Oevering to correct as we did.

My husband had noted that we were in the process of trying to determine the best course of action in treating the drainage issue and seeking guidance for installing a blacktop was one of these proposed solutions.  As he recalls a definitive answer on how we would resolve the issue was not provided to the Oevering representatives at that time.

Again, we have shared with you that weve have third party contractors who specialize in grading and installing driveways, tell us time and time again that if the concrete portion of our driveway and the gravel were installed correctly we wouldnt be having drainage issues.

We feel you didnt do all you could in preventing water issues from transpiring as you were clearly aware building at the bottom of a hill would be an issue based off of recent emails youve sent us.

I reached out to you after the initial visit from your representatives, asking when you would be able to come out and regrade the driveway and youve provided no response, hence having to reach out to the BBB to resolve this matter.

Again after several conversations you were made aware that drainage issues were our #1 concern and if these werent properly addressed we wouldnt have move forward on the sale of the home. You told us what you had to to make the deal. In our opinion, this matter has yet to be resolved as we feel you were negligent and provided false information to obtain the sale.

      Regards,
