I went in for a free consult to discuss options for filling in the gap between my two front teeth.I was then later billed a $300 charge for the consult.I questioned this as there was no indication there was a charge at all. I was told to contact my insurance company, which I did. The insurance company told me that the dental clinic should have informed me if they were charging for the consult as consults are usually free. I enclosed a picture of the text message from the receptionist *****, from the OLeary dental office. I found it interesting that she stated that they do not inform of the charges unless the patient were to ask about them. I work at a hospital/clinic setting and I know the right protocol is to inform the patient prior that there will be charges before procedures. The way this was handled was very shady to me. I started to make payments as I was concerned they would take me to small claims and ruin my perfect credit, but the more I have thought about it and have discussed it with others, I have decided to stand up for what is right. I dont want to see them try to get away with this with their other patients. I am asking for a refund as this seems like fraud.Business response
