To whom it may concern,The real truth about Overlake Hospital. My dad recently almost died from having been admitted to Overlake Hospital in ********, ** and my mom is getting better care through the VA than my dad receives from ************************************************ Cardiac center. His near death experience was caused by an infection he receive while at Overlake but they are un-willing to admit he contracted it through an IV and it was not related to Coved. He was admitted back in October for AFIB and had his heart medication adjusted to help with this. After changing heart meds he had to stay in the hospital 3 days to verify he did not have a reaction to the medication and during this time he contracted an infection from unknown origins even through his right arm was swollen right at the point where they put in the IV. According to the infectious disease expert he may be on anti-biotics now the rest of his life to ensure the virus does not come back and kill him. He was discharged and sent home three days later and then had to call 911 because he was running a temp over 105 due to this infection. He was then re-admitted and had an infectious disease doctor treat him and release him with the next week. If my parents had not called 911 he would have died from the Infection he received while at Overlake Hospital. He was treated and released. Fast forward to Dec 21st. I had to call my Dads Cardiologist and plead with the receptionist to get him into to see his Cardiologist because of the side effects the new Cardiac medicine. Please note he has had the same Cardiologist for over 15 years and was unable to get an appointment until January 2022. When he went in on Dec 21st ********************************************************** the hospital, had an infection that could permanently damage his heart valves and cause his death. He had no idea his meds were changed and that he was having any problems. This in my opinion is a major breakdown in the Organization that is all related to Overlake Hospital. I called Overlake and asked them to please update his Cardiologist but apparently that went nowhere. I am writing this to inform people that if you have a loved one that needs to go into Overlake you need an advocate to help keep them alive.Thanks,*****
