I tried canceling when my card that was getting charged had to be replaced with a new one. Since they make it difficult to cancel I decided that would be the end of it. Instead of canceling they decided that I still owe the money for another 6 months and they would cancel my subscription. I received no notice that they would do that. They called a few times and when I answered there was no noise on the other end of the line. They decided that instead of not providing me service i wasnt paying for would send me to collections. They are predatory and I won't sub ever again. The News Tribune Response

The day I got notification that my subscription for the digital version was renewed, I immediately canceled and received notice that it would cancel on Dec 5, 2023. I didn't know that TNT or McClatchy doesn't refund. Bad business. To say I am dissatisfied is a nice way to put it. $50 a year is ridiculous. The News Tribune Response

Thank you for contacting the News Tribune. The account for ************************* was cancelled as of 12/5/2023 at the subscribers request. At the time of the order Terms of Service must be accepted prior to the order being processed. In the Terms of Service it explains cancellations are processed for the next renewal date. The automatic deduction plan was signed up for by the subscriber for a yearly paymnent . A customer has many options on how to cancel service prior to the next payment being processed. ***************************** account was due to renew on 11/30/2023. I was sent to collections for their mistake! I canceled my online subscription via their phone service on 8/9, it was confirmed to be cancelled, but they continued to charge me!! I of course disputed the charge and received another call fro mathematician again confirming it was cancelled and then today I get a collection notice in the mail. This is fraudulent activity and insane to see from what I thought was a local company. The News Tribune Response

Thank you for your message to The News Tribune. Our records show your account started on 8/11/23 on a promotional rate of $1.00 for the first month (digital access only). The account was set up on an automatic payment option at the time of the start. However, we do show a note on the account that requested to have the order canceled. We do apologize for the error.
At this time, the account has been cleared with The News Tribune and ARM Solutions. Please note, ARM is a non-reporting collection company and this will not appear on any credit report.
Please feel free to contact us at ************ or ********************************************* if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thank you

The News Tribune (Tacoma) has sent me to collections because they continued to deliver a few papers after I canceled my subscription. Not only is the paper lacking in content but now they are pulling this. I have never been sent to collections in my life before this. I was a loyal customer of theirs for over 50 years and now this is the treatment I get. Pathetic! The News Tribune Response

Thank you for your message to The News Tribune. Our records show your account expired on 8/9/23. There were two renewals sent (7/12/23 & 8/21/23). We received a note of cancelation in the mail, but it was after the expiration date. Since we do not stop subscriptions automatically, the account continued on a grace ******* Once we received the notification, the account was canceled on 9/16/23.
Please feel free to contact us at ************ or ********************************************* if you have any further questions or concerns.

It is outrageous that the News Tribune will not refund partial subscriber dues and, essentially, force an unwilling subscriber to keep receiving the paper (now vastly reduced in size and local reporting) until the end of the subscription. Mine ends in February, ****, and I am unhappy about continuing to pay for the paper. Our mail delivery often does not arrive until 6:00 pm. All other subscription services of which I am aware allow a partial refund upon cancellation. Is the News Tribune's policy even legal? The News Tribune Response

Thank you for your message to The News Tribune. Our records show your account is set to expire 4/4/24. As of Monday 10/16/23, there was a change in how the paper is being delivered. However, The News Tribune is still providing 7 day news and content. The printed paper is being mailed daily Sunday-Friday and you have 7 day unlimited digital access to the website, eedition and newsletters. We hope you continue to read the paper and take advantage of the digital news content that is available everyday by 6:00am.
If there is a delivery issue with the paper being mailed, please feel free to contact us and we will research any delivery issues. At this time, your paper will arrive same day with your regular mail delivery.
Please feel free to contact us at ************ or ********************************************* if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thank you

The Tacoma News Tribune has elected to stop providing home delivery of the paper. They will begin mailing the paper on 10/16/2023. ******* does not provide home mail delivery, we have to have a post office box. We go there two to three times a week. We would have to go to the post office every day for a paper that is a day or more late. I called to cancel our subscription and ask for a refund, since it doesn't expire until 02/01/2024. The digital access is worthless to my husband who uses a small flip phone. I was told the TNT has a "no refund" policy. We are not cancelling because we no longer want the paper, but because the news will be old by the time we get the paper and will have to drive to get it every day. This service of mailing would not be as bad if a person got delivery of mail to their home......we do not. We want the refund we are *********** get. We were not told this change was coming when we renewed our subscription in July. The News Tribune Response

Thank you for your message to The News Tribune. Our records show your account has been updated to continue the mail delivery. Please note, the mail delivery also includes unlimited digital access to the website, apps, newsletters and eedition. The news will still be delivered everyday, it is just the way the news is delivered that has changed. Our hope is you continue to keep the subscription and enjoy reading the paper in print and digitally.

Wanted to cancel my subscription of $859.00 and the person on the phone would not do it without me threatening to report to the business to the BBB. She insisted on making discounted subscription offers and I continued to state the cancellation request. After 10 minutes of FIGHTING with her on the line and stating I would make a complaint to the BBB, she finally gave up and put a cancellation notice in. I don't know what you don't understand about:1. it's too expensive on a 90 y.o.'s budget 2. do not renew for any amount 3. $895 for a very limited news paper is too much! We better not be solicited by anyone to renew, don't send a billing to renew, don't attempt to make any solicitation for a subscription! I would give NO STARS IF I COULDThe News Tribune Response

Online, when you click on a News Tribune story, they ask if you want to unlock 48 hours of access by taking a three question survey. The questions? Do you own a home? Is your mortgage over 100k? Is your credit score 560+? Oh, and your email address. Why would they ask these questions? Do they intend on using this information for a story or are they going to sell it? Who do they sell this information to? Yet ANOTHER reason to beware of this company. The News Tribune Response

TNT raised my paper rate from ***** to ****** without notice over night. I have auto pay and did not notice until later. They have tried this before and I have called them and with the language barrier I was able to bring the price down however, they are constantly upping my rate without notice. l am going to cancel as the tribnet is not worth even ***** for a 6 day delivery. They say it is because their production costs have gone up. At this point they will lose their business as people will not pay for the small paper we do get, if we get it. Also, they charge you more at the holiday because of advertisements. Aren't these paid for by the businesses?Review from Rae K

They give you a great rate for a year and then it goes sky high. mine jumped to over 50$. I had auto pay so they took it out.I emailed them and cancelled which they did, but did not refund my money as requested. Now, about 2 months later I have a collection agency after me. They say I owe ***** for November to December for home delivery. I had digital with Sunday only delivery which is what I cancelled. I can't believe they would think I would pay ***** for 1 month of Sunday only delivery! That is ***** an issue! What a scam. Most of their news is available on the web for free. This company is a ripoff! Buyer beware!
