I have been renting a room at the motel for 5 years and paying $1,600 every month for rent. I am now suffering from a lung infections and possibly even worse due to green and black molds in my carpet , on my ceiling, on my walls, and on my walls in my bathroom. I began telling the owner of the property 2 years ago about the issue. Everyday for the last year I asked the owner of the motel if I can move into a different room so he can repair or clean up the mold. I have told him I can hardly breathe in the room. No one will come to visit me because it smells so bad of mold. The owner tells me no but he keeps accepting my rent every month. The owner has made no attempts to clean the unit, replace the carpets, or any kind of maintenance on the unit at all in 5 years. The owner has done nothing about the green and black mold. And he refuses to allow me to move into another unit even when they have vacancies. It is so bad that you can smell the inside of my room from the outside of the door four or five rooms away. The owner has had no maintenance of the unit . Housekeeping and the cleaning professionals have never cleaned the carpets. The cleaning staff has never entered my room to clean it. They have never change my bedding linens or towels and do not even restock the toilet paper in the room. I have to purchase my own towels. And pay to wash and dry all of my own linens from the room. They provide no housekeeping services at my room. I am a disabled vet. I've complained to the veterans affairs. I have made attempts to find other accommodations for housing and each time my fiduciary refuses to pay any other landlords rent for my accomodations. I'm now getting very sick from the toxics of the black molds. I make $4,800 a month. I always pay my rent on time. Housing is scarce in this area that is why I'm in a motel renting monthly.
