In December, my Dad purchased a large safe for me as a gift and this business is the shipper. It arrived on 02-09-2022 and before it was removed from the truck, I found several gouges through the finish of the safe. I initially refused shipment and the delivery driver asked me to call the shipper to see if we could work something out. The I called Sports Services and after several minutes was put in contact with their shipping department. They told me that if I just wanted a perfect safe, to go ahead and refuse shipment. But if I was willing to accept a small compensation of 5 to 10%, to accept it and we would work something out.I agreed and accepted the shipment.They sent me an e-mail requesting pictures of the damage and serial number and model number of the safe, which I did. I also requested that instead of a partial refund, that I be sent a led lighting kit and a dehumidifier, which retails for less than 5% of the cost of the safe. Much less wholesale.The next day they answered that they weren't going to help me, they were just the shippers in the transaction and if I wanted to reach an agreement, I needed to contact the place my Dad had purchased it from. Which leads to this problem, the original company is refusing to return any communications with me. Likely, because I have already accepted shipment per the agreement I had with this company. Now I have a damaged safe that I accepted on instructions and a deal offered by Sports Service that is not being honored by them. I think this is a very poor way to do business and would like them to stick to our original agreement. They are the ones that shipped the product, they are the ones that contracted with the shipping company and they are the ones that offered the minor compensation in exchange for my acceptance of the shipment. It is only fair they uphold their end of this good faith transaction. I upheld mine.Business response

Please note this sale was not made by our company to this customer. The customer bought this safe through another retailer and Sports Service merely provided the shipping for the Dealer direct to the customer. The customer said he could not get contact with the company he bought it from and saw that Sports Service was the shipper so he complained since we were the only source he could find.
We have called the customer and given him a free light kit and dehumidifier for his troubles even though we did not sell this unit to him. He has said he is happy with this arrangement and we feel we have gone overboard for a sale that wasn't even our sales.
