This rating is definitely a ZERO!Repairmen or service personnel...I am so tired of the double talk. Whether they fix your car or computer, I always get a phone call stating that they found something else wrong. I only wanted new fans for the laptop. The repairman called me back to let me know that fans, and they were installed without a problem. I was happy UNTIL... here we go... you know what comes next. The serviceman told me that he found another problem with the computer and my smile disappeared. I wish humans had an antenna. That way the repairman could know that the consumer knows that they are about to get the "snake oil". I was not buying the oil. So, I went to pick up the computer and paid for the fans and the labor fee only. When I got back home, the computer took way too long to " boot up".When the computer finally turned on a message on the computer read *************** presence... ******** present... on a black screen"Right away I called the manager and told him that the computer was not performing right. AND as always the service guy told me that he explained to me on the SECOND call that there was something wrong with the ** drive. I told him that the *** drive was working perfectly until he took the computer apart. SOOOO, whatever he did inside the computer messed up the ** drive. Again, (here goes the old salesman pitch)...the manager told me that he could fix the problem for a price. There should not be a price if he would fix the damage he caused. I brought the computer in for new fans. Now, I have to pay this company another 80 bucks to fix my **drive.

Just want to make sure all the facts are on the table. The laptop was originally presented with a complaint about strange fan noises. We turned the fans on and verified that both fans were making noises consistent with worn out fans (wobble noises and clicking noises). We recommended that the fans be replaced. No other diagnostics were performed at that time due to there being no other complaints about the system. We ordered the replacement fans, contacted the client when the fans arrived and installed them when the client the client brought back the laptop. During the process of checking the fans and system temps for proper operation we ran a piece of software called HardwareInfo64. This program can do many things such as check temps and fan rotation speeds and it can also give SMART data from any drives in the system.I noticed that the *** which is the main OS drive in the system was reporting that it was at a wear level of 1% and had a drive failed warning. To be clear this is data reported by the firmware on the drive and is due to normal wear and tear. IT IS NOT SOMETHING I CAN MANIPULATE OR FAKE AND IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE CAUSED BY DAMAGE BEING DONE TO THE DRIVE. Considering the fans were worn out and the battery in the system was reporting that it is also worn out and going bad its not abnormal to expect other components such as the *** to be failing also. I specifically warned the client about the *** since it was on the verge of complete failure and could go out at anytime. The drive slowing down is also a common sign of a drive failing and considering how far gone the drive is I'm not surprised it was starting to slow down. The customer declined to replace the drive at that time even though I said it could fail completely at any point. I also told the client that there wouldn't be any additional labor charge for replacing the drive just the cost of the replacement drive. The only one I had in stock new that was compatible was $84.99. The "check media presence" message was just a boot order message since the system was trying other boot devices in the system before it booted from the ***. This is a simple fix that I told the customer I could change for no additional cost. Its not actual an error and the change in the boot order was probably caused by the **** resetting when I removed the battery to change the fans.

      To bulletpoint this
1: The drive is failing due to normal use and not anything we did to it.
2: We warned the client the drive is so far gone it could completely fail at any point and they declined to fix any ways. The drive slowing down due to how bad it is is only one of many symptoms the client might experience at this point due to the failing drive.
3: We were not going to charge any additional labor to install the drive and clone the customer's data only that they pay for the replacement part. If they can not afford / do not want to spend that much I could probably find a smaller cheaper drive to order in but I offered the only drive I had in stock that would work. Even the smallest drive I could order would be in the neighborhood of $60.
4: Offered to change the boot order so the media presence message wouldn't come up free of charge.

These offers still stand but we will not pay the parts cost to replace a worn out on the verge of failure drive that we did not damage.

I am rejecting this response because:

2: We warned the client the drive is so far gone it could completely fail at any point and they declined to fix any ways. The drive slowing down due to how bad it is is only one of many symptoms the client might experience at this point due to the failing drive.        IT  IS  amazing  that the  system  went  down  after  we  received  it  from

Mr.  *****.  At  that  Exact  moment...not  two  days  later, not  6  months  later,  not  a  year  later...BUT  soon  as  we  brought  the  computer  home  after   receiving  it  from  Mr.  Brown  the  computer  drive  messed  up.   Does  anybody   smell  a  RAT???????
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
4: Offered to change the boot order so the media presence message wouldn't come up free of charge.

Why  would Mr.  ***** offer   to  change   the media  presence  message?   Did  he  have  something  to  do  with it  showing  up in  the  first  place?         Anyway,  Mr.  Brown  ,  we  have  decided  to  buy  another  computer  since  you  have  damaged  our  computer  that only  needed  fans.  Thanks  for  the  EXTRA  money  we  have  to

      spend.!
