A side note, they are not cheap, but for the high price, I expect a decent service. Everything but not an easy claim process. I feel like I'm talking with a one string banjo. They send an email, they need more medical records. I already submitted everything. I call, I explain, she makes notes, pretends she understands. Next day, new email, need more documents... Can't wait to settle with them and leave and never look back.Review from Thomas P

I'm surprised to read all these negative reviews. We have only had good experiences with Healthy Paws. Yes the premiums do go up every year but they do for human insurance as well. Their *************************** is very helpful and their newly revamped app make it easy to submit claims and get reimbursement.Review from Robin H

DO NOT ENROLL IN HEALTHY PAWS!!! You are better off investing or saving the money in a separate account for use in an emergency. We have a 9-year old HEALTHY golden retriever and have been paying the monthly premiums since she was a puppy. We filed one small $50 claim about 7 years ago that went to the deductible. Our monthly rates have increased as our dog aged, which I understand and expected. HOWEVER, they are now $119 a month (double from where we started) and we have NEVER received a payment from Healthy Paws as we have a healthy dog. When I called to ask for a reduction, the representative was very understanding but explained the rates are set only on age of the dog and cost of vet care in our state, and do not take into account the health of the dog or prior claims. So, even though we have no history of claims, our rates went up almost $30 this year. I canceled our policy and promised to post everywhere I could to warn others from giving Healthy Paws thousands of dollars over the lifespan of your dog. Save your money!!!Healthy Paws Pet Insurance LLC Response

We truly appreciate you being part of the Healthy Paws family for the past 9 years. Were glad you didnt have to file many claimsthis means your ***** was healthy and accident free. As our customer care team member covered in your call, your premium amount increase is influenced by two primary factors, the increased age of your pet, and the cost of veterinary care services reflected in the claims paid in your specific state. Your premium has gone up because total claim payments to pet parents, among other things, have increased faster than premiums paid by all pet parents in your state. As a result, the premiums for insurance for all pets in your state needs to be increased so that your insurer can continue to provide this type of insurance. Premiums are determined based on the rates and rating rules filed with, and approved by, each states insurance regulator, which reflect the cost of treatment advances in veterinary medicine, and characteristics of the individual pet, in addition to the overall claims experience for the program within the region where the pet resides. We do our best to be transparent regarding annual premium increases by including this information on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page of our website. Were sorry to lose you as a policyholder and hope you and your pet stay well.Review from Marge D

After we lost ****** to IMHA in 2015 (and paid some $12,000 in vet bills over 14 months), we shopped around for pet insurance and chose Healthy Paws. Our dogs are like our children, and it is worth the monthly premium not to have to hesitate when they need care--especially when a mild-looking ailment might be masking something serious that might respond to early intervention. Healthy Paws has seen us through many such moments, from a lacerated ear flap to a fatal case of lymphoma. Their policies are fair, transparent and easy to understand, their prices are reasonable and very competitive, their communications are prompt and their processing of claims is incredibly quick--we have received payments (via direct deposit) in as little as 3 days. And finally--having just had to put down our beloved ****, followed almost immediately by some scary GI issues in her grieving *********************--we have found Healthy Paws--the staff and the company--to be humane, helpful and genuinely compassionate. As long as we have dogs, we will continue to have Healthy Paws.Review from Cynthia F

We truly appreciate your being part of the Healthy paws family for the past 7 years. As per your plan we do require full medical records for all enrolled pets in order to process claims. Once full records are received (typically we ask for them when you file your first few claims) we will keep them on file for future claims processing and you will never have to submit full records again. In the future, if we do need clarification for a specific claim, we may simply request the date of service exam notes for that visit. Our customer care team covered this in more detail during your call back in the fall of 2023. Our team reached out on your behalf to your veterinarian for those records, but they were never received. Unfortunately, we could not process your pets claims without those records. Were sorry to lose you as a policyholder last year and hope you and your pets stay well.Review from Mary P

I had three dogs insured by Healthy Paws. Over 7 years they have raised the rates from $47 to $109. Now too late to change insurance companies. One dog died a year ago due to an aggressive fast growing tumor. They put me through h*** at a time we were grieving always asking for more information and claiming they didnt receive documents. In the end I received approx $900 for a $2400 bill. Save your money, put what you would pay for premiums into a savings account . You will be further ahead and will save yourself a lot of grief!!Healthy Paws Pet Insurance LLC Response

I would highly recommend Healthy Paws for your pet. We have had Healthy Paws for approx. eight years since we first adopted our dog. We have never had an issue and their customer service is fantastic. Our dog has had two TPLO surgeries within the eight-year period and Healthy Paws was extremely fast at processing the reimbursements. Other vet appointments she has needed (if included in the plan coverage) were also reimbursed promptly. I recommend you choose them for your pet insurance.Review from John W

10 plus year member. Never filed a claim. Rates go up as your dog ages. Started at $30 now at $90+/month. Filed a claim a few months back for removal of a mass from his back leg. Provided the detailed invoice from the vet. . They said I needed to go to the vet and get all these additional vet notes *** other forms. Isnt that the insurance companys job? Why am I doing all the work and paying the premium. Then they said they needed all of bodies medical records which they have had for years. I provided documents again and they said there was a gap of some sort. None of this has anything to do with this isolated procedure as detailed in the invoice. We moved and we used some vets one time to keep dog current. There was no claim so I did not provide the invoices. They take your premium the overwhelm you with doc requests when you need to actually use them. Ive paid over $7k in premiums for a policy Ive never used and basically cant unless I harass my vet to provide additional forms that are not normal. Be smarter than I was and just put money away every month for your puppy and youll be set if/when something happens. I cancelled my policy. Wanted to cancel many times but kept sayingwell, Ive already paid so much and now my dog is old so might as well stick around. When I need to use my policy they made it so cumbersome that I just gave up and thats what they count on. The rates keep going up so might as well cut bait and set up a side account for any future vet bills.Healthy Paws Pet Insurance LLC Response

We appreciate you being part of the Healthy Paws family for the past 10 years. As per the policy we do require medical records for all enrolled pets in order to process claims, including a copy of the required enrollment examination. Once full records are received (typically we ask for them when you file your first few claims) we will keep them on file for future claims processing and you will never have to submit full records again. In the future, if we do need clarification for a specific claim, we may simply request the date of service exam notes for that visit. We appreciate your efforts in providing medical records, but the majority of those were line item records, which are not actual medical records. One of our Customer Liaison Managers has emailed you with what is missing. They have also reached out on your behalf to the veterinarian hospital that has the needed information. Once received we can process your claim.Review from Darcie B

Healthy Paws was great to work with when my dog needed oral surgery. The submission process was easy and they were very clear in their correspondence with me. They asked for follow up information which my vet helped me provide. They paid my claim in less than a week. I would recommend them to my family and friends. My vet's office has two employees who also have Healthy Paws policies for their pets and when I told them who my insurance was they agreed that this company is great.Review from Erica M

Please do not be tricked by this company for bringing you into their company at a reasonable rate, for them to have raised it each year between 15-20% and now in my dog's 6th year with them they raised it 40% over $300 in one year! When I asked why this was happening when my dog barely uses this insurance they stated it is in response to the rest of the dogs in the *********** and their increased needs. The price isn't even determined on MY dog's health background, it's based on the entire state? I'm extremely disappointed in this company and WOULD NOT recommend, especially where my dog now has a "re-existing condition" of allergies, so if we left Healthy Paws she would not be covered elsewhere, so we are stuck with this awful company.Healthy Paws Pet Insurance LLC Response
