In November of 2021 I sent a 10' Redington Hydrogen fly rod to Redington for repair. I paid the repair fee sent the rod using the shipping label they provided. I paid in advance for the repair. I have heard nothing. I have sent at least 6 requests and have been ignored.Recently I also sent an 11' Redington Strike fly rod for repair. they acknowledged receiving same.At this point they have two of my fly rods worth about $500 in total and appear to have no intention of doing anything about it.

I bought a Redington Prospector switch fly rod in 2015. Then it was broken at top piece in 2018. I contacted Redington repair and sent my rod back to Redington, and they kept my rod and just sent me a 50% code back for buying a new model which is Chromer rod which is around $400. Because they did not produce Prospector rod any more at that time. After I got a new Chromer rod and then used 3 more years, it was broken again in 2021. I sent it back to Regington again for replacement. They told me again they did not produce Chromer rod any more and they will send me another 50% off code for upgrading to Claymore rod. That means I had to pay $200 more again with this code to get a new rod. It seems like they change switch model rod every three years, and customers never had a chance to get replacement for broken part. Usually to replace broken part, we just need to pay around $50 for most brands of fly rods. But for this nightmare Redington rod, I have to pay $200 again and again to continue use it since they change model too often and they did not keep any spare parts for replacements of the broken parts. Redington is not a responsible company for customers. Actually, my Chromer rod had lift time warranty. But after they got my returned rod, they always say this is not a rod quality issue, so they do not have to replace rod for free for you. Actually, all my friends who bought this Chromer rod had top piece broken at least one time so far. I do not think this is a good quality rod. I do not suggest other fisherman to buy this brand rod. They made very bad quality rod and had worst repair service.

My Redington Hydrogen rod broke at the very tip during a normal cast after catching seven fish indicating the rod was fully functional right before the failure. Two fishing buddies were fishing next to me and witnessed the incident as described. I sent the rod back to Redington to be repaired or replaced under its lifetime warranty (https://www.redington.com/support/warranty) and after a two month wait I was advised that the rod has been visually inspected by their technician who determined the failure was not caused by the manufacturer's defect. Furthermore, they advised that the rod has been discontinued and cannot be repaired and as such I was offered a 60% discount on any one item from their website which, if accepted, would relinquish my rod to Redington. I declined because the rod failed during normal use at its most basic function (casting) and since it cannot be repaired, which was my original request, it needs to be replaced under its lifetime warranty.
