I hired Polli/Rot doctors to replace my front door and entryway. The first quote they gave me was for ***** hours worth of work at a max **** of $11,900. I asked for a fixed quote and they provided one for a total of $14,312. I received an email of the total hours of work performed on the job for ***** hours, which seemed about right, as there were two men working on the job for five business days, one who left often while another gentleman took his place. A month after the job was completed, I received an invoice for $22,643.47 with a line item for Additional *** labor for ***** hours at $105/hr, increasing the **** of the project by $8,793.75. The original quote was for up to 80 hours, and the total labor email I received was for ***** hours, which was less than the original quote. I voiced my concerns to Polli and am now being told that the line item for the hours is for the additional material they needed for the change to the work I signed. When I signed this document, ******, the supervisor told me it did not mean it would **** more, just gave them permission to do work that was not noted properly on the original quote. He also told me they would include receipts for the additional materials, which they sent with the invoice, on a separate line for $134.12. The job was completed on 7/23/23 and they still do not have an explanation of these additional ****s. All I want is for them to make good on the original quoted price. I have all the documentation. If they fight for the additional nearly $9,000 in labor, I would like to know what I can do.

The initial bid contract was for $14,312 (see attached contract) and the approved additional work for rot repairs on her trailer was done on a time and materials basis. We communicated with the client about her misunderstanding on September 22nd and have not heard back since that e-mail. I can only assume the client is confused about bid and ******* work but we are always careful to document any additional work (see change order attached). We do give weekly email updates for ******* labor so that the client can stay informed. The updates clearly state that the work is for T&M work only. No labor updates are given for bid contracts since that is irrelevant to the client.

The invoice is valid and due in full. If the client would like to chat with me directly I am always available.

I have attached a copy of the contract portion and a copy of the change order.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

I requested documentation of the additional ******** in charges from the business and they were not able to provide them, when I signed the change order, the floor and front door of my house were torn out and I was told that if I did not sign the change order, they were going to leave the project as is, as well as "do not worry, it will only be a few hundred dollars at most, if anything and we'll provide receipts and documentation of all additional expenses."  I received $134 in copies of receipts and no proof of the additional hours that I know do not add up because I was here for the duration of the project.  I was led completely astray and was under duress when signing the change order which also has statements that were included on the original quote, so was NOT additional work.  The original quote for the project was $11,900, then went to $14,312 and I was invoiced for $22,643.47 to repair a 5x5 entry way and front door.  Polli was dishonest and not upfront with costs any step of the way.

They sent out two "experts" to quote the project, the floor was spongy and the entire threshold was visibly rotted.  I'm not a contractor, but I know when something is spongy, it means there is damage and would need fixing, so the change including repairs that were unexpected when both of these individuals mentioned sistering floor joists prior to pulling my house apart is completely ridiculous.

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.

Thank you for reviewing our complaint regarding Polli Construction. Our experience with Polli has been very frustrating, as we believe we have been misled and substantially overcharged for work on our cedar roof, while also having a poor experience with follow-up communications. The estimate from Polli was in the $2,000 to $3,000 range, however they recently invoiced us $9,482.37, while performing a small fraction of the work we expected. We are hoping the Better Business Bureau can help serve as a means of recourse for our situation. To help support our story, please see the following attached documents:* PDF explaining the timeline of events occurred (Polli Construction Notes.pdf)* Several emails between Polli Construction and me and my husband ***** * Estimate from Polli Construction (2022-06-20 Polli Estimate.pdf)* Receipts from Polli Construction, enclosed with the above invoice (2023-04-10 Polli Materials Fees.pdf)* Invoice from Polli Construction dated Jan 25 and received via **** April 10 (2023-04-10 Polli Invoice.pdf)* Photo of East roof area where Polli Construction performed repairs (2022-11-05 Roof work performed.jpg)* Photo of West roof area in need of repair (2022-11-05 Roof area in need of repair.jpg)* Photo of West roof ridge where our roof recently lost several shingles (2023-04-08 Roof area after further damage.jpg)

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.

This is the only correspondence I received on , no reply to BBB complaint or addressing any of our questions or concerns. April 21, 1:49 pm.

      Hi *****,
      I hope you are well.
Just so you are aware, Polli has bundled the remaining cedar from your job and ****************** has them on consignment at their site in Burlington. If they sell, you will get the credit directly.
      Best regards,

      *****,
As you are likely aware we have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau when we received the invoice last week from Polli.  Please include them in any reply to our concerns.
      Regarding the shingles:
Polli's original quote estimated $300-$500 in materials. That is one bundle of shingles.
We estimate they used just over one bundle of shingles for the work completed; and none were left when the job was done from an open bundle;  and we had some for them to use which were also not used and taken.   Polli chose to purchase 8 bundles of shingles not the 1 as the estimate was for.  We are not responsible for nor are we paying for the extras purchased by Polli that you indicate are on consignment.    Im not sure what prompted your email when no one has replied to our other requests for more information.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
      ***** & *******************
