Creedle, Jones & Associates, P.C. and I entered into an agreed-upon procedure in which the firm would certify our home restoration expenses based on a fee of $*** per hour of services provided. I signed that agreement on February 23rd, 2022, but the agreement the firm emailed me was already pre-dated with the incorrect date of February 1st, 2022. To be clear, the date was typed, and there was no line for me, the signer, to provide the date. The email I sent in which the signed agreement was attached substantiates this with the time stamp. Certification of expenses is a component required by the VA Dept. of Historic Resources (DHR) to grant any applications for tax credits for restoration of historic buildings, such as our home. We cannot be approved for tax credits until the DHR receives the CPA's report. On March 9th, I signed a Schedule of Qualified Rehabilitation Expenses document that included a lump sum of all my various home projects' costs and a CPA certification fee of $*****. In this document I declared the information was correct to the best of my knowledge, by which I understood to mean the rehabilitation expenses, not the CPA fee. On March 9th, I signed another document containing a list of 7 statements pertinent to our engagement. Statement 3 reads that I was provided with all relevant information and access under the terms of our agreement, by which I understood as all information strictly pertaining to the certification of our expenses. On March 10, I sent an email to the project supervisor, Kim Jackson, requesting she provide a more detailed invoice outlining how 18 hours were required to complete my project. On March 14th I sent an email to Robin Jones, a partner of the firm, explaining the situation and requesting clarification. Both emails have gone unanswered. I believe I am entitled to clarity when it comes to a straightforward concern about fees, especially when the cost is over four times larger than average.
