      I have an old ***** ****** that I cherish. It is a ****, has low mileage, and has needed little maintenance. Recently, the battery died. After replacing it, “code” showed up on my radio. I called Mechanicville Honda and was told i needed the serial number off of the radio. When I asked where it was located, it was recommended I bring it in. For just $******, they would pull out my radio, find the serial number, and enter the code. $******. I told the man he was awesome, hung up, and ******* my problem. There was a code in the owners manual. 15 seconds later the radio was back on. They wanted to charge me almost $**/minute instead of telling me where the info was. I will likely continue to purchase Honda’s, new or used. I WILL NOT shop at Mechanicsville Broad Honda.

      I apologize for any confusion and also that you had a bad experience recently with our service department. I hope I can offer some insight on why you were quoted a price to retrieve the code. Prior to 2002, the radio code was provided from Honda to new car owners at time of delivery on a small decal. Because this code was intended to be secure the customer could place it anywhere of their choice and over the years we have seen them placed in various locations throughout the car. Unfortunately, we would not have known that the previous owner placed the decal inside the owners manual. If the current owner doesn't have the code our only option would be to pull the radio and obtain the serial number and contact Honda for the code. In thinking about it from your perspective, I think our staff member could have offered a more thorough explanation of this and perhaps you might have felt differently about your experience with us. I'm glad you were able to find your code and save yourself the expense and I hope that you would be willing to give us an opportunity to work with you again in the future.

      I get it but why didnt they just say look for the card in your owners manual. They immediately went to charging a fee and said nothing about why they need to pull the radio.

      I sure hope you are telling the truth. However with the other experiences I have had here and at other Page Auto Group entities, I do not trust what is being told to me. I am no longer a customer and I will make sure I inform as many people as I can about this and other horrible experiences I have had. Thanks and Goodbye!
