In December I went for VA state inspection and it failed due to a bad front passenger tire. I had to go to a meeting that day and said I will return in few days to get it replaced which I did. When I returned, they quoted me over $1000 for 4 tires due to not having 4 of the cheaper option, I asked if I will be ok driving if they replace only the front two. I even told them I have a long trip over 1000 miles that week and need to be safe on the road. They confirmed with YES and changed only my 2-front tire (near $500). Two days later less than 220 miles since we passed inspection, we got stuck in the middle of Ohio on a Friday night due to the back tire being completely destroyed. We had to call road assistance; get a hotel room in the middle of nowhere and wait till the morning for a tire shop to open. Next morning at Walmart they refused to change only 2 tires on an AWD car. Their policy is to change all 4 tires due to different brand/ware can cause a complication to the car. Something I never knew and Kia didn't inform me of. We ended up buying 2 new tires ($220) and changing it ourselves at the parking lot so we can continue our trip. When contacted Kia to report how bad both of my back tires were (that the metal was seen (photos sent)-they responded very brief and careless. With issuing VA state inspection pass they put mine and my friend life into danger and overcharged me for service that now cost me way more. I contact them again and asked to do something but despite the promise a manager Christopher Prevatt or Michael Torress will follow up with me and reimburse me-this never happened. Do the right thing by at least follow up with your customers when you say you will do it. I cannot tell how disappointed and upset I am of this kind of unprofessional service. They put our life into danger, and this is not acceptable! Wish they failed me for all 4 tires instead of taking my money and letting me drive stating I am safe to do it, when I wasn't! So irresponsible

When the customer came in for the state inspection their front tires failed inspection. The rear tires were measured at 4/32nds which passes inspection. They were recommended to replace all 4 tires as although they passed inspection, it wouldn't be terribly long until they would fail inspection. Certainly, long before a year when the next inspection would need to be done. They declined the work. In order to pass the inspection, they did the minimum required which was the front 2 tires. They were advised the rear tires were "cupped" (uneven wear) which is a symptom of misalignment which is why we recommended they replace all four. When they chose not to do the rear tires, they assumed their own risk. Tires at 4/32nds do pass inspection and are considered safe by state standards. Without any visible damage to the tire there is no way to predict when a tire fail. Road hazard, potholes, curbs, etc. come into play to damage tires as well. I am sorry the customer was inconvenienced in any way, but they declined the work we recommended and by state standards the rear tires were still deemed safe.
