Recently, Eberto from CroppMetcalfe's Warrenton office came to our house for an electrical repair job covered by Home Service agreement. The young electrician, highly professional, efficient, and patient, solved the problem in a flash to our full satisfaction. We were impressed by his dedication to customer satisfaction and also by his sense of humor. So far, we have scheduled free electrical service twice by CroppMetcalfe under the Home Service agreement, and they always arrived on time and problems solved in no time without any dispute.

On 3/10/22, CroppMetcalfe technician came to my home to diagnose why our air conditioner was not blowing out cold air. He ended up replacing a pump that day and explained that we should have our HVAC unit replaced which we agreed to. The amount I was to be charged that day was a little over $300. I gave him my card and was not asked to sign any documentation. When I checked my credit card statement later, I noticed that I was charged $545. When I called to inquire about the charge, I had them email me the receipt and that's when I noticed that the technician forged my signature authorizing the charges and also acknowledging that I was in agreement with the work that was performed. Without authorization the technician enrolled us into and charged us for the Bronze HVAC plan. I filed a complaint with the company and I am still awaiting my refund. My word of caution would be to ensure that you get a receipt and also be sure that you check your credit card statement. I can't believe the tech forged my signature and added on additional charges!

CroppMetcalfe quoted me a price of over $1000 for an HVAC repair part, which I found through my own research had a retail price of only $159 to $226, based on several reputable sources, and OEM parts only. In other words, they charged me 5-7 TIMES typical retail prices (and no doubt they would pay less as a jobber). When I called them to cancel the order and complain of this price gouging, their representative said they would "not negotiate" any parts prices, and furthermore would charge me a 15% "restocking fee" (which is $150 based on their quoted part price, for a part they did not have in stock and had not even ordered yet!). This exorbitant price for a part, their unwillingness to do anything about it, and their outrageous "restocking fee" scam are, in my opinion, verging on criminal fraud. I strongly urge consumers to AVOID getting HVAC service from CroppMetcalfe.
