      The absolute most horrible customer service! They replaced a meter at my home and then began to hike their monthly payments to make up for what they "should've" been receiving. The bill became exorbitant, and then they refused to accept large payments once it had been shut off-requesting thousands in full. My wife and I are elderly, and the heat was cut off during the winter. Horrible company.

      Absolutely the WORST customer service I've ever experienced! If it were possible, on a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate Columbia Gas a -10. It is literally impossible to pay your bill on the web. You must pay by phone and it takes at least 10 separate inputs to do it, including punching in a 15-digit account number. This company is something out of the dark ages. If it were not a monopoly, there is no way it could survive as a company.

      Absolute nightmare. These people do not care about anyone. They did meter work and neglected to tell us that we would have to be home to have the gas turned back on. I come back home with my child after working and picking her up from school and my dogs are freezing. After three hours on hold with customer service and being spoken to extremely rudely I still have no guarantee they can get this taken care of. The ultimate in terrible customer service.

      I am 85 years old and a 50 year customer of Columbia Gas. I have never, in all these years experienced such terrible customer service. I did not get a gas bill that I usually get in January and that bothered me. I tried to call the Customer Service number for Columbia Gas. I called six times over a two week period(Jan 25- Feb 5) and each time was told they had a load of calls and wait time would be 25 minutes. I waited over 40 minutes at each call and finally gave up. I got online and looked at my account and it said that I have not used any gas and all I owed was $***** of service charges, no charges for any use of gas. Worrying that something was wrong I immediately paid the $***** on line and then online sent another $*** to assure that my account was covered. I then went outside and read the meter and determined that the meter was not working and that is why no bill was sent. I also gave up trying to call Customer Service and called the Emergency number, who answered right away and forwarded my call to a department to handle replacement of my meter which was done in two days. Ironically, I also received this week a letter from Columbia Gas wondering why I was not using any gas. They have no Customer Service if they never answer their phone.

      I am a U.S Veteran, Honorably served my country for 8 years. My Gas was cut off due to past due balance. After paying the past due balance as seen on my bill. I was informed that an additional $*** would need to be paid to reconnect my service. After asking for an explanation/ breakdown of those additional charges, I was told that it is written within the company policies, which are not accessible to me, the paying customer. I have tried to get a payment plan or a waiver of said fees due to my medical issues but, they told me that they could not help me. I have been without heat for two weeks now as temperatures continually go down, especially at night. The pandemic has not been declared over or solved so the attempt to collect extra hidden fees during such a time is absolutely disgraceful and insulting. I will be moving at the end of my lease solely because Columbia Gas is the only company that services my area. I will pay those hidden fees, take an insulting lose but, I refuse do ever do business with this cruel, money hungry, advantage taking, predatory company ever again. The world needs to know how unreasonable and greedy this company is.
