I bought a high end vehicle in 2021 with a clean Carfax. I relied on the Carfax report when I agreed to the purchase price of the car. A year after I bought the vehicle (in 2022), Carfax updates my report retroactively to show damage that supposedly occurred in 2018 (before I bought the vehicle). This damage report that was added to my record 4 years after the fact has harmed the resale value of my car tremendously. I asked Carfax for a record of the damage report and they would not provide it. I asked them to prove that the damage isnt a mistake since my car has no telltale signs of damage. They would not do this either. So at this point they will not show me evidence of damage, nor will they remove the damage from my report. Nor do they have a statute of limitations on damage to a vehicle. So be very warned that if you buy a car, DO NOT TRUST the Carfax report. They will update reports years later without evidence and they have no responsibility to let you know or offer you a process where you can legally dispute a report. There current process to dispute is a shame. This company is actually a shame and should be either shut down or forced to comply with consumer protection rules.Review from STEVE W

They are very inaccurate in their reports. I bought a report for $48.56 after tax and the discrepencies were immense. The report said the title was clean. Title still had a Lien holder listed. The title was pink and in Texas that means it was totalled by flood or fire damage. The mileage was not required on the tittle which means it was over 100,000 mile not 63,000 as stated on the report. It also had more than 3 previous owners accordng to the young man that was trying to sell the truck. His grandps was the 3rd owner and then his dad and then him. I have emailed CarFax with this information and they have yet to respond as of a week later. I will never use CarFax again after this experience. I would suggest no one use it. CarFar should be sued due to false advertising for their TV commercials.Review from Rachel M

No Customer Service, I asked for info on a recent CarFax. "Lawyer Up!" I believe that Salesperson “Sej” and Iconic Auto Group, of Buford Georgia intentionally & fraudulently misrepresented and sold me a 2002 BMW M3 with a CarFax. I asked to resolve the situation and they sent me their Lawyer's contact info. They gave me a Carfax that reads 22,413 miles and "No Accidents". I took it to a BMW Certified mechanic, he advises "no way, probably more that double the mileage", needs $10k in mechanical repairs, plus it has replaced body parts/panels and repaints. Today the CarFax reads an accident was reported on the day I paid for the car. I asked CarFax for information on the Accident, no feedback. Now the car is worth less with an accident reported. CarFax appears to honor the dealerships more than the retail public. Never use CarFax again.Review from Oak G

I Hope AI puts CarFax out of business. CarFax never answered questions about an accident that appeared on a new CarFax the day I paid for the car. I decided to purchase the car based on a clean "No Accident" CarFax before the purchase. I believe they have more allegiance to the dealer than the retail buyer. I'm eager to see if they come clean with the info I need to go after the dealer, Iconic Auto Group, Buford Georgia. I'd never trust or use CarFax again. Feel tree to contact me if you have more questions about my beliefs of an "Intentionally Misrepresented Fraudulent" purchase experience with Iconic Auto Group. They do not return calls and texted me their Lawyer's contact info.Review from Carlton B

Inaccurately had information posted on a vehicle I purchased. Trying to update them and they are acting like they don’t understand what I’m saying even though I have sent them photos 2-3 times now.Review from Frank G

Because the last nine months, I guess because I bought my car thru Flemington chain of dealerships, CarFax started sending me complete monthly reports of my 2020 Cadillac Escalade ESV. Oil life, tire pressure, mileage, and a bunch of other things. And it had at top, the Trade In Price as of that time. When you started sending the nine months ago, it was approximately $78,000. Every month understandably it would go down a bit. August and Sept it was about $70,000. I’m telling you the very lowest in Sept. it was $69,000. My mistake in all this was that I didn’t keep copies, unless I have one stashed, and didn’t run across it YET. Well, based on your report, I went to the dealership and had a car lined up, I haggled on the price while the manager did “ his so called inspection”. Well, he came in and said here is your price on the new car. And what do you expect for your car? I said, really, I know you want me to tell you 25,000. Well he kinda chuckled, and said no really. I said that’s how we’re gonna play this? I told the salesman, tell him I want $76,000. And he said is that the bottom line, I said well, $75,000. He wrote $75.000 I said no to tell him $76,000. Well he disappeared and in comes the manager. With a Carfax in hand, that said like $58,900. I told him about the report I just received from you that said $70,000. He said, this is what he just got. After fighting with him back and forth, and inches from the door, we came to a deal, no thanks to you Carfax, I went as far as telling them, when I get home, the first fox I see, I’m gonna shoot it. Now I come home and contact CarFax, I only request that you send me a copy of August and September so I can send it to them to show I’m not lying. You gave me nothing. So here is my last shot before I start with my bad ratings online. Pease send me a copy.
