As part of a used car purchase, I negotiated that Sheehy would touch up the paint on the front bumper and hood as part of the detailing process (which had not been started when I decided to buy). This was documented on the "We Owe." An appt. was made for 3/6 and I picked up 3/7. I was disappointed to see that it was missed, told my salesman, who said it would be done next time with the new key, trunk tray, etc. I made an appointment in advance as required by the "We Owe," reminded Sheehy that this work needed to be done, was told that everything had been done (see voicemail transcript) and again, it wasn't. "Touching up the entire car" was a contractual condition of buying this car--which I really like and want to keep--and now that the return period has lapsed, Sheehy's position seems to be "oh well." I live in Baltimore, the dealership is in Alexandria. Every time I have to go back and forth, it costs me more than $25 in tolls, two cars, and two people's (considerable) time. Sheehy ***** got two opportunities and 5 days to do this work and opted against it. I got 3 quotes from independent body shops to perform the work that Sheehy wouldn't and was surprised to learn that it would cost more than $1k and I would be out of a car for *another* 2 days in addition to the 5 that Sheehy Honda has already wasted. I am therefore requesting a refund of Sheehy's $899 by check processing fee as a compromise IF this can be completely resolved in 30 days. No further "We Owe" repairs will be required of Sheehy, I am happy to sign a release if required, and I will consider this complaint successfully and positively resolved. My experience with Sheehy was positive, I am a repeat customer of Sheehy, and would like to continue doing business with them. This experience was poor but not overcome-able if agreeable by Sheehy management. I like and want to keep the car.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  ***** and I came to a mutually agreeable path forward quickly and amicably and I received the check from Sheehy, as promised, 4/26.  Please close this case in Sheehy's favor.  I'll continue to be a repeat customer (whether it's a car for me, mother, friend, I'm up to 5 Sheehy cars and want to keep it that way!)

I purchased a 2009 ****** ******** from Sheehy Honda on Friday March 11. They have a five day return policy and a 30 day warranty on the car. I took the car to my mechanic and he informed me that there are safety issues and it will not pass MD inspection. Sheehy told it passed VA inspection and they replaced the brake pads and rotors. My mechanic said the brake pads and rotors need to be replaced as they are low. I took pictures of what I could and the rotors look rusted. He also told me the two Lower control arms are not safe and are missing the rubber. This is in addition to the left headlight assembly, two stabilizer links and the timing belt. Sheehy said they would only replace the items if I get it inspected and show them the inspection. I asked then what will you cover from this list. They replied and said nothing. They had tried to sell me an extended warranty for around $700 or more but with a 30 day warranty why do I need this and also if it passed VA inspection? I asked what is my deadline for returning the car and they said Wednesday. I asked are you sure. They said Tuesday then which is tomorrow and was the date I had. I don't understand how they are selling cars with safety issues, that wont pass inspection and now will only cover these issues if I had bought one of their expensive extended warranties.

My name is ***************** and on Sept 28, 2021, I purchased a 2018 Honda ****** from Sheehy Honda in Alexandria. The day that I purchased my vehicle, I noticed a rattling/tapping sound coming from the engine area when I went over bumps and stepped on the breaks. I made an appointment for October 4 and after two hours of waiting, I was told that a technician was not even available. I made multiple attempts to reach the general manager Kathleen S*****, but she did not respond to any of my emails. I made another appointment in their service department and had the car there all day on Oct 19. They told me that there was an issue with the suspension and they addressed it. However the noises were still there. They technicians and the managing partner (Sina M******) then tried to gas light me and say the noises were normal. Sina M****** also stated, maybe I would like to take it to ****** Honda for a second opinion, and that they were his friends. This was said in a chilling tone.

Our service dept. thoroughly inspected the vehicle for the rattling sound the customer complaint of. They checked the suspension, brakes, and several other areas to make sure our service dept. had thoroughly exhausted all avenues before returning the vehicle to the customer. When she complained about still continuing to hear the sound after picking up the vehicle, I personally road tested the vehicle and grabbed our service director to ride with me. The tapping/rattle sound was determined to be a normal characteristic of the vehicle, as our technicians even road tested similar model year Accords to verify that. At that point, the customer asked for what options she had and expressed that she was not happy with our diagnosis of the sound. What we told her was we could trade her out of the vehicle, she could take it to any other Honda dealership (as the vehicle is under full warranty) to get a 2nd opinion, if she's not happy with what we're telling her. I'm extremely sorry if the customer felt this statement was made in any certain type of tone, but that was not my intention. We're more than happy to continue to work with the customer to get this situation resolved.

      Good morning ******:

Thank you for your role and taking the time to ensure accountability with Sheehy Honda in Alexandria.  I wish to re-open this case, because the information provided by Sheehy Honda is false. #********.

After purchasing my car at Sheehy Honda (within a day), I identified a couple rattling noises inconsistent with sounds a car should make.  At first, Sheehy Honda used the tactic of poor customer service/ ignoring me, to make me go away.  Then the managing partner (Sina M******) tried to gas light and strong arm me into accepting that the rattling sounds I was hearing was "normal."  He had multiple heavyset technicians surround me and all tell me the same thing.  When I did not accept this, the managing partner said he would " buy my car back" for a discount price if I was unhappy with the purchase.  He then stated, "or you could take it to Browns Honda, they are my friends."  This was said in a menacing way.  After taking the car to Honda ********** in Dulles, which is unassociated with Sheehy Honda, there were multiple repairs made (please see documentation and photo below), including removing this pen (photo below) that had been shoved into my air conditioning vent.  I do not know what the motivations were for Sheehy Honda  refusing to make the repairs needed, gas lighting me, and trying to strong arm/manipulate me.  This may or may not be related, but I understand that the automobile industry is also seeing a supply chain shortage. I would like to ensure that consumers are protected from these menacing tactics by Sheehy Honda that appear to prey on those they think are vulnerable.

My ask at this time is to downgrade even further, Sheehy Honda’s BBB rating, communicate with Honda Corporate about the violations, and place Sheehy Honda on any watch lists there may be/ report them to all appropriate federal and state authorities.  Please let me know of any additional needs for documentation, I will gladly provide them upon your request.

      Respectfully submitted,
      ***** ***
