2/29/24: Despite their website specifically saying they won't cause damage, our car door received not only paint damage but a BROKEN WINDOW BUTTON. Now, we must pay the manufacturer to have the button replaced on top of what we already paid to this poorly managed company. Several attempts have been made to discuss our concerns with them, with no response. The service alone cost $260, and in order to replace our window button, that's going to cost another $150.

I locked my keys in the car out near Saltair last night. I realized this at about 8:30 pm I called the number for a lock smith near me. The lady said she would have a technician contact me in the next 5 min. With a quote. A tech from In and Out locksmith called me. He was difficult to understand because of a heavy accent. He confirmed the address, said I’m on my way and hung up. He didn’t give me a quote. I have had locksmith service in the past and during the day have paid $50 to $60 I figured it would be more due to the late hour. Maybe $100 he arrived in about 15 min. And had the car unlocked in less than a minute. Good fast service. But when I went to pay him he said it would be an increased charge due to the late hour. He showed me a bill for $250. It was shocking but since he had unlocked the car I did not know to argue with a man in the middle of nowhere in the dark. So I just paid it. I want other people to know not to use this service. I have messaged the company with my complaint. They did not reply. Just beware. It is a shame that they do this to people because the service was good other than the overcharging, to bad they don’t operate with more integrity than that.

On March 19th, 2023, I required the services of a locksmith to unlock my car, so I contacted In And Out Locksmith to provide this service. Multiple times I was directly quoted for $40 over the phone, so I agreed for them to come out and perform the service. The locksmith, to their credit, performed the service swiftly, but charged me an additional $320 after he had already performed the service. If this had been discussed previously to the service being provided, I would not have agreed to it. Not knowing what else to do, I panicked, signed the invoice, and paid a partial payment of $150, as I literally did not have enough money to cover the entire "agreed" price. I have already filed a complaint with the Utah Department of Commerce.

I called for a service and was told the cost would be $49 for a service call plus labor. The technician arrived and started working, due to my car be "very" difficult to open the technician had to use more tools. They charge $65 dollars per extra air bag. The technician used 4 air bags to open my car. Before proceeding I was not advised that this would be extra. My bill came out to $395 when I was originally going to be charged somewhere between $110-$150. I contacted the manager telling them their mistake on not telling me before hand and they could not refund me anything.

On Dec. 8th 2022 my husband locked me out of my car when starting it on the morning, trying to warm it up in the snow for me. He had locked the car with the keys in the ignition and we didn't have a spare. I went online and Googled Locksmith Near Me. This company popped up and had 5 Star reviews. Great! Called and then told me it would be about a 30 minute wait and a $45 dollar service fee. I told them I would like an extra key made if possible and they said their locksmith would contact me. He called about 10 minutes later and said relatively the same thing. Guy then shows up almost an hour later and unlocks the car. Tells me it's $298 for the service after its done. Asks if I still want a spare and I said it would be nice so this doesn't happen again. I asked how much it was handing him my keys. He mutters something under his breath, takes my keys, and starts making a new one. I ask again the cost and he says $298. I say for the key and the car? He says no, $298 for the car $298 for the key. I tell him I don't want the key if it's going to cost thag much and he tells me he's already started making it so I have to pay for it. He gives me the new key. It's cheap metal, no key fob, probably actually worth $20 at the most. He then tells me I can pay over Venmo so of course, no receipt. Once again repeats the cost of $298 for each service and $48 just to drive out. He then says "but just for you I'll make it $600." I felt sick to my stomach after the whole thing. I thought it would be a $70-$100 transaction at the most. I was never told the price upfront other than the service fee so I felt like I had to pay. The key was crap and it took the guy 3 minutes to get into my car. It was not a $600 dollar transaction. I did further digging into the company after the fact and other people have had the same thing happen to them. I feel like this place is a scam and I don't know how to go about warning others so they don't make the same mistake by calling these people.

I did a google search for Sandy locksmith and used the contact button to call. The phone operator told me there would be a fee to come out. I asked for a quote and she said it depended on the lock. I told her to send someone. Person arrives, and immediately begins drilling the lock. He did not ask me for any proof of residence. He did not give me a quote of any sort. He did not attempt to pick what I have been told is a very pickable lock. While drilling, my lock keypad came back on and he stopped. I entered my code and my door unlocked. The locking mechanism was still working fine, and the keypad was functioning again. He told me he had to change out the lock entirely and that he couldn’t leave it the way it was. At this point I already knew I was being preyed on. I refused. We argued back and forth a bit and he receded. I immediately went into my apartment with the door slightly open (as I felt unsafe). I asked him how to pay. He said he accepted venmo or another service I was unfamiliar with. I only knew venmo. He then told me it was $389. I told him that I believed that was absurd and started bringing up that I should have received that as a quote upfront and so forth. I was not offered any form of receipt. I called the operator asking for a receipt. She said one would be emailed. After 30 min I called again and she said it might be the following day. I asked for further business information and she refused to give it. I was not given a receipt and attempted to follow up with the locksmith as well as messaging on Venmo. I was extorted and made to feel unsafe. Then ignored while making a request for a receipt for my apartments records.

On October 8th of this month I called In And Out locksmith from Layton, UT to come unlock my vehicle. I asked while on the phone with them how much it would cost for me to have them come out and unlock my vehicle and they told me $30. The employee arrived and unlocked my vehicle and then said it would be $130 and that the $30 they told me on the phone was just for the traveling not the actual service. Called the company multiple times to have them resolve the issue. The manager called me back and said that she went and listened to the recorded phone calls and can see how there was a mistake in price but all she could do was apologize and train her employee better. Very discreet and unethical of this company.

On July 19th, I had called In and Out locksmith asking for quote to make an auto key and spoke to the receptionist. She took my number down and had technician call me right away. When the technician called I asked first for and estimate of the cost. He told $129 dollars and up but couldn't tell me exactly until he looked at it. I mentioned over the phone that I had another locksmith that would do it for $190, so then he said he will do it for $180. However, I never consented or agreed to his $180 price. He asked for the address and came over immediately. Upon arriving, he didn't discuss or explain what the cost would be instead asked to begin working immediately on the car. We never agreed on a price. At one point, I told him to leave, but my friends whom owns the car and lives at the address called him back When I asked him for the lower price, he argued for the higher price and didn't act professional. Poor service and no receipt given, until after I called the office. Refund $51..
