Nov. 2021 we hired Art of Concrete to excavate/pour concrete footing and foundation for small dining room ----/single car garage. Art of Concrete bid at $14,952.00. After trenches dug / rebar installed it was discovered the front trench closest to the street was in wrong position per city code. Art of Concrete was requested to remove rebar in front trench, refill and dig a new trench in new location and re-install rebar. Art of Concrete was then requested to replace the 25 feet by 16 feet of what remained of the old driveway from the sidewalk to what would be the front of the new structure. Having reviewed the project plans approved by the city, Art of Concrete advised owner of the need to pour an additional concrete pad underneath what he knew would become a joist-supported wood floor supporting the new dining room level with existing home floor. Naive inexperienced owner agreed to this un-necessary pour trusting company to do the right thing. Owner accepts responsibility for this foolish decision recommended by company. Complaint: 1) (see photo) South of new construction was a pristine lawn area approx. 14 feet x 42 feet which became covered over with 4-6 inches dirt/gravel mix. After Art of Concrete back-filled remaining spaces around foundations they left the property without cleaning up dirt off of lawn. 2) (see photo) Company set a number of anchor bolts into the wet concrete intended to hold bottom wall plate in place too low so new bolts will need to be drilled into foundation. 3) (see photo) Company set hurricane straps too close to surface of concrete and they are breaking free of the concrete. City will require these to be repaired. The final bill from the company was over $27,000. I have texted Larry Fife (owner of Art of Concrete) and left a voicemail requesting that Art of Concrete return and finish the job by cleaning up all the dirt/rock mix that has now ruined the entire lawn area with no response.
