      Business response

      06/18/2021

On Monday, June 14, 2021, we received a call asking to speak with *****.  When ***** came to the phone, she said, “***** this is ******* ****, ***** I paid off my car a couple of weeks ago and I lost my receipt, can you give me the amount and receipt number for the 2013 Malibu.” She then proceeded to provide the year, make and model of vehicle and the date that the final payment was made and the address.  Ms. **** stated that she had misplaced her original receipt and could not find it and therefore wanted to know the amount that she had paid.

After assuring ourselves that it was Ms. **** on the phone, having provided all the correct information regarding her account, Mr. **** gave her the payoff amount and the receipt number.  We never suspected that the caller would be anyone other than ******* ****.

We did not realize this until Ms. ******* **** called back the next day and she spoke with ***** *****, ***, our Manager. She asked “did you all not verify any f…ing information or can anybody call in to get information regarding the accounts.”  Mr. ***** stated that “we verify phone number, vehicle, and address” and she then stated “someone here in the office gave my daughter the payoff amount and receipt and I sold it to her for more money.  I want to know who f…ing gave her the payoff because I’m f…ing pissed off about that.”   Mr. ***** stated that he didn’t know but told Ms. **** that he would find out then Ms. **** hung up on Mr. *****.  Mr. ***** then spoke with Mr. ****.

Immediately Mr. **** called Ms. **** after Mr. ***** told him that she was very upset and asked her, “how are you doing, how can I help you” and then she replied “you gave my f…ing information to my daughter.”  Mr. ****, did not know what she was referring to since he had not spoken to the daughter because he believed he had spoken directly to ******* **** the day before regarding her account.   Then ******* **** offended us and our business threatening that she would blast Discount Auto Center on social media and Better Business Bureau.  She also told Mr. **** that she would never do business with us ever again.  She never gave Mr. **** the opportunity to explain what had actually happened.

We later came to find out that the person who had identified herself as Ms. **** was actually her daughter who had purchased the vehicle from ******* ****, her mother, at a higher price than the actual pay off amount of $1381.95 on her 2013 Malibu.

We appreciated doing business with the **** family and have always wanted to provide excellent service and vehicles for our customers.  We do not have any hard feelings with the **** family and we believe that they are using Discount Auto Center as a scapegoat between mother and daughter. We believe actually the deception was the daughter deceiving our salesman into believing that she was ******* **** all along by telling him all the personal information that only a member of a family would know.

We have been in business for over 40 years and we pride ourselves with an excellent reputation and Christian values.  We have done nothing wrong.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I am insulted that they say they are an honest company and take with regards there customers & value my business. I have always paid my accounts on time and have never been late ! am appauled that they are lying . I spoke with my daughter ********** & she doesn’t even know the names of anyone that works there so Mr **** is a liar!! He didn’t verify nothing but my name!! My daughter can be reached at your convenience to verify exactly what they verified and that was only the callers name. Discount Auto obviously does not take there customers privacy seriously.. And that is really what bothers me.. In reading there response I am utterly in disgust!! I never mentioned anything to Mr ***** **** about selling my vehicle to anyone for any amount of money.. And that proves  to me as a consumer that he has no morals whatsoever!! This complaint has never been about the money. It is simply the fact that they violated my rights as a consumer and gave out information that they never should’ve given out!! And they refuse to accept that they were wrong!! I have left messages for the owner ***** to call me back and have yet to hear back.. I have taken my business elsewhere and have purchase new vehicles with another dealership.. I thought about paying my vehicle cash so that I don’t have to deal with a metiocre dealership n there lack of professionalism. However, I have decided they will wait for the very last penny!! I called Discount Auto Center today and of course no one is there to take my call. I told the lady who did not give me her name to have ***** call me .. I told her y’all can deal with me over the phone or I can go up there.. The lady on the other line stated I was threatening them.. I stated no I’m not .. Never the less we will see if the owner contacts me!! I just want to make sure that other consumers privacy isn’t violated!! Bottom line!!

      Regards,

      ******* ****
